Webb7 438
Florida’s health officials reported 12,478 new cases of Covid-19 and 87 new deaths on Sunday, according to data released by the Florida Department of Health. This brings the state’s total cases to 350,047, DOH data shows. The statewide death toll is now 4,982, the data shows. Sunday marks the fourth time since the start of the pandemic that Florida has reported more than 12,000 cases in a single day. All four days have been in July, according to CNN's tally. One thing to note: These numbers were released by Florida's public health agency, and may not line up exactly in real time with CNN’s database drawn from Johns Hopkins University and the Covid Tracking Project. stay safe monsters who in Sunshine State. POP2 4,206
One thing to keep in mind about Florida, right now. They are testing A LOT! Today’s data showed they tested 116,000 people - that’s very good. Yes, there is definitely a surge in Florida but people need to relax just a little about it. Also, these results are from about 7 days ago because they are somewhat backlogged. The current trend in Florida is that the positivity rate is continuing to fall... Remember, it’s the third largest state in the country. We shouldn’t care about the number testing positive, we should care about the positivity rate. Also, (and this is going to sound snarky, but it’s not supposed to) don’t we have a broad Coronavirus topic on here that these Florida Covid threads could be posted into? I’m tired of the daily Florida updates and panic on here.

Anecdotes do not make for facts just because your friend works at a hospital. My sister is a nurse in NJ and she said her colleagues have peers across the country where the ICU‘S are so full they’re turning away new admissions. That’s something these anti-maskers and people who think it’s a joke should think about.

Don’t feel crazy. A lot of people around me think it’s a made up political hoax . I just feel bad for them and enjoy social distancing from them
