January 8: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announce they are stepping down from their duties as senior royals in Buckingham Palace. January 20: The first coronavirus case in the US is reported in Washington state. January 26: Kobe and Gigi Bryant, along with seven other passengers, died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. January 31: The United Kingdom withdraws from the European Union. February 11: The WHO names the coronavirus disease COVID-19. February 27: Stupid Love by Lady Gaga is released. March 11: The WHO declares the coronavirus a pandemic. March 13: Trump declares a national emergency amid the coronavirus pandemic. March 24: The 2020 Summer Olympics, which were supposed to take place in Tokyo, are postponed until 2021. March 24: Lady Gaga postpones Chromatica for a later release April 7: Officials in Wuhan, China, lift the city-wide lockdown after 76 days April 8: Sen.
