PartySick 172,545
New CBS News/YouGov polls show President Donald Trump is in trouble in three states he won in 2016. He's tied with former Vice President Joe Biden in Arizona (46% to 46%), a state he won by four points in 2016. Trump's down 48% to 42% in Florida, a state he took by a point in 2016. But it's the third state, Texas, where the eye popping result comes from. It's Trump 46% to Biden's 45%, a result well within any margin of error. It's pretty clear looking at the data that Texas is a swing state in the 2020 election. The 2020 campaign could be the first time Democrats captured the Lone Star State in a presidential election since 1976. The CBS News/YouGov poll is not an outlier over the last month. There have been eight polls released publicly since the beginning of June. The result is that Biden and Trump are basically tied, with Biden up by a mere 0.3 points in Texas. Importantly, and unlike in other states, the polls in Texas have not overestimated Democrats over the last few cycles. If anything Democrats actually slightly outperformed their final polls in the 2016 presidential race and 2018 Senate races. https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/12/politics/texas-swing-state-2020-election-polls/index.html Whimsical bitch
PartySick 172,545
@Shadow @Morphine Prince congrats They also mention Beto vs Cruz (Beto nearly won) and the fact that Hillary is the first dem to lose Texas by only single digits in the last few decades. How much of a f*ck up do you have to be to possibly lose the biggest Republican bastion there is? Whimsical bitch

BillieGOAT 5,272
I hate to be a downer but there’s no way Trump loses Texas Polls were calling South Carolina a swing state back in 2016 and he won by almost 15 points
Shadow 6,697
It is a very close margin according to polls, but it is possible... Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

Maleficent 6
Just now, Shadow said: It is a very close margin according to polls, but it is possible... But I think that if Biden is to win Texas, it means he’s already won NC, AZ, the rust belt, and probably Florida. I.E. it doesn’t make much sense for Biden to throw resources at Texas, because it won’t be a deciding state, it would be the difference between 300 something electoral votes vs. close to 400 electoral votes

imnotyourbabe10 6,120
I hope this doesn't land me in hot water here but I vote for liberals or other left progressives based on the likelihood of the state being a swing state. I have traditionally lived in red states (the electoral college is garbage and the votes all go to the republicans in my states) so I vote for my voice (e.g., Bernie, Stein, etc.). Interesting to hear how TX is doing this election cycle. To be clear, I'd def. vote Biden if in a swing state! Or have voted Clinton had I been in a swing state! Not asking for a fight -- just sharing reasons for voting since the popular vote typically does not matter in solid red/blue states

Economy 52,860
LGBT tag? I get that one candidate is supportive while the other one isn't but it seems too indirect to the main point of the article for that to be the tag
