Not limited to pop genre eras so I put the term album instead.

Not to be confused with solely album sales as a basis, tour gross, single sales, impact, popularity also play an important role.

What do you think is the biggest/most successful?

Albums that come to my mind in any order, 1989, Born This Way, Teenage Dream, Thriller, Bad, 21, 25

Like A Prayer/Thriller absolutely.

There’s no doubt these two eras were the most controversial of all time.

2009-2011 was a ERA. I won’t be specific to one album but during this time Gaga ruled the world. She was, no doubt, the biggest celebrity in the world throughout all fields :firega:

Well yes those eras were huge, but without Like A Prayer/Like A Virgin there would be no Gaga or female pop culture as it is today, that’s why no other female than maybe Madonna or Janet should be placed as biggest era since they changed the music industry for women forever

If we’re going to say a Madonna era then let’s do Confessions era. There you have the quality, the legendary status of the album, the legendary tour, the iconic reinvention, the acclaim, everything :vegas:

The way you snubbed LAP:yennefer:

In recent years, Katy’s Teenage Dream for sure.
Maybe not on the tour area, they completely saved the whole budget for Prismatic Tour!

I’m on my Legacy Act era

In rock, it's the Nirvana era for sure. Kurt changed music, clothes, attitudes, you name it. I'd say the Beatles, Bowie, Madonna, MJ, maybe Prince, Britney, and Gaga were the others. Off the top of my head.

In terms of impact I would say

1) Thriller

2) The Fame + TFMonster

3) 21

4) 1989

5) Teenage Dream + complete confection

Everything could be everything (it could mean anything)

Singles
Impact
Popularity
Quality

Tour: yes, but because it rode off the success of Sticky and Sweet Tour

Singles: there are no real hit this era, GMAYL was like a 10-OUT

Impact: no

Popularity: no one remembers this album except the stans

Quality: her worst album

For the K-pop genre, you know that Oh! by Girls' Generation, ALIVE & MADE by BIGBANG and To Anyone by 2NE1 goes into yall's heads.

I'm adding BLACKPINK's Kill this Love era too.

MDNA Tour > S&S Tour, it's a fact.

I gotta hand it to BTS though. Map of the Soul: Persona is easily the biggest K-pop era ever.

BTS had Boy With Luv, a top 10 hit in Billboard and never left the Korean top 40 charts for over a year, broke the 24 hour record, they got to go to the Grammys, an all-kill in all general categories for music awards in Korea and of course, 21 music show wins.
