FfFfFfFF 58,120 Posted July 10, 2020 Share Posted July 10, 2020 In the area known as Măgura Zimbrilor near the municipality of Armeniş there are now over 57 free bison, at least 12 of which were born in the wild. The reconstruction of Europe together with WWF-Romania, partners and local communities welcomes the return of bison, animals that shape the landscape and contribute to increasing biodiversity. Puppies are part of the largest group that observers have observed in the wild in Romania for more than 200 years, 24 individuals. People from WWF Romania believe that there are other newborns in the other groups, but since they have access to the Natura 2000 area of Ţarcu Mountains, which spans thousands of hectares, they are difficult to find. “Births in the wild are an important indicator for the rewilding project, telling us that bison have adapted and thrived in the Southern Carpathians, a great success for the conservation of this vulnerable species and for the biodiversity of the area,” said Marina Druga, LIFE-Bison project manager, WWF Romania.
