The other day I saw my doctor (not sick, I'm doing osteo therapy for soreness in my arm), and she told me she's ashamed to be an American. I agree with her. It's extremely frustrating for those of us who've been doing everything right since before the pandemic even spread here. I was wearing masks as early as late February and started quarantining a week before it was required in my state. I have put my life on hold to keep my parents safe through this. I am furious with how politicized mask wearing and social distancing has become, and at people's ignorance and selfishness, not to mention the failed leadership in this country. Thank God I live in a state with a governor who is using science to guide her decisions and isn't afraid to walk back on our reopening as needed, and she's vowed not to open schools if educators, staff, and students can't be kept safe.

Sounds like Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Love her. More governors need to be like her and Cuomo for how they’ve handled the pandemic. It’s ironic how the same states that ridiculed and mocked them are the ones drowning with the spike in COVID-19 cases. I feel bad for the people we know in those locations taking seriously; everyone else is on their own.

i understand where you're coming from. with the rising numbers (and with my grandma having necessary medical appointments to go to) people just make it so dangerous for the vulnerable who NEED to go outside to do so. selfish pricks and assholes everywhere.

and in terms of the gov't, the rot starts at the top, the federal government, that still, to this day, can't supply enough covid tests (in my state, one supplier who they're getting tests from cut their tests to us by 3/4 to help out these asshole states who took the laissez faire approach). **** off.

One of the counties in my state voted to not follow the mask requirement and people were actually happy about that. :rip:

Most schools here open in 5 and a half weeks, at the latest. Can we turn things around by then? :smh:

A lot of the new cases we’re seeing is a result of better testing in the country. Death and hospitalization rates are way down.

Not to say that things are looking great, but the US situation is not nearly as bad as everyone is making it seem imo:shrug:
