Artur 12,419
Stabilizing at +1M daily would be a dream! 911 deserves 1B views but I am fine with 100M
JustJames 950
4 hours ago, Noir said: Do you think they’re testing 911 with mainland Europe before making it a single in bigger markets? Hmmm The promo needed for a single to succeed / boost album sales in the digital era can't be scaled to test like this. It isn't sensible/effective to 1) film an EU-only MV, 2) tour EU Radio stations, 3) perform on prominent EU shows, and if 911 does well, A. expect US/UK audiences were isolated so you can measure/repeat baseline>peak impact from the same content, OR B. produce new/equally engaging content. 911 MV impact was felt WW thanks to the Internet/virality of quality content. If 911 is going to be a single in a territory, the time to release it was last week, when performance spiked across the globe. What can be learned via Italian Radio worth throwing away MV/song streams + sales? Not only will those sales/streams never again be counted, even larger #s were lost by not directing ads/links/PR to iTunes/physical sales, merch, playlists, etc. or being added to US Radio. Post-album singles aren't easy; labels would kill for a head-start like the MV hype could've given 911. Do you think Watermelon Sugar would've smashed/Dua's team would sit on such hype without: 1. PR re: the status / release of the song as an Official Single. 2. US Top 40 Radio add date. 3. iTunes Single + Physical/bundled Singles + Merch. 4. YouTube video cards, end-caps, and links to: 911 (Official Single) YT Audio, 911 (Official Single) iTunes DL, 911 (Official Single) Merch. 5. YT, Instagram, etc. ads driving to ^ and curated playlists on Spotify, etc. Seeing another song/Chromatica increase on Spotify is great. But, a 4th song above >350k/day from an album with a Top 10 debut week on Spotify, 2 Top 5 US singles, 275k debut sales, etc. from a global star shouldn't be a huge win. As said repeatedly, showing her face/shining light on the album this summer would've done as much. A typical rollout (PR, Radio, iTunes/Physical Single, Merch) for 911 would've led to ~1M peak in streams week 1 after the MV reception (+sales+airplay = BB100 debut/2-3 wk run). Simply linking to an official iTunes single in the YT description, and driving video cards + end-caps to 911 Audio (ignoring the impact: announcing it as an official single, adds on Radio, selling physical copies+merch, and curating playlists w/ CII+911 would've had) probably would've done enough. However, 2020 Charts are a different beast than in 2013/14. Streaming had just begun to impact calculations, and I don't believe things like weighting for paid/unpaid, etc., had yet been accounted for. Lady Gaga was a HUGE name, regardless of the narrative re: that era, and the G.U.Y. MV premier was a major event/generated a massive # of views. Dope charted at #8 from streams alone earlier that era (leaving aside the validity). I don't know how its points were achieved the week it charted, but G.U.Y. also received SOME airplay thanks to Gaga's own Radio tour (wasn't serviced by Interscope), unlike 911 (0 AI). If you feel frustrated, voice your frustrations at the Admin, not at other members who are still somehow trying to keep this thread alive and running because some of y'all willingly left and abandoned this place after the ban spree in July. And think twice again before posting such condescending nonsense Yeah some of y'all are chart veterans and your contributions over the years cannot be ignored but you really don't have to go out of your way to put other members down who still make a genuine effort to keep this thread going just because you feel your space was jeopardized. Move on already instead of trying to stir drama related to the past and have fun at your new "forum" "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. pop ate my heart 2,865
sooo this slow, 'testing its potential' single rollout for 911 is not effective after all? i thought we were getting somewhere after they put it on Pop Rising, but it's not having anything bigger than that huh? am i-e-i-e-i-e-i-e-i-e-i-p-plastic

G.U.Y. debuted with 2 million US streams on the Hot 100 after its first full week of video streaming (it was released on Saturday while the streaming tracking week used to end on Sunday/ begin on Monday). 911 is sure to have much more streams to debut with given its Spotify streams are exponentially higher than G.U.Y.’s and it’s video views from the first week are slightly higher, BUT, like you said, streaming as a whole has increased dramatically, so that’s why more streams than 2014 aren’t enough to debut today. G.U.Y. was also nonexistent on radio it’s video release week, but it have like 6,000 sales also, which if 911 had had this week it would’ve easily debuted. So basically, as we already know, the literally only other thing that they would’ve needed to do to make it debut would’ve been physical singles/ merch British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS

Some people suggested that because BP was in NY they might have shot a video together but I doubt it. "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends.
