I remember that it went viral on TikTok last year! I don't know if it's still the effect from that

Radio support does not a hit make.

MR has more WW certifications, more streams, more views than The Cure. Sorry, but The Cure was a borderline flop.

And who cares that Applause was really popular when it came out? First of all, even that's an exaggeration. It was big, sure, but it was not even top 5 of songs during that time. More importantly, nowadays, it's mostly forgotten and thus not a signature hit by any stretch of the imagination. It didn't even make the cut for the SBHTS, not even the mashup before Poker Face.

Telephone, Paparazzi, Alejandro and maybe even TEOG would be next in line before Applause for signature songs after the big 5.

Anyways, @Pop Art spilled the :tea:

What? Telephone, Paparazzi and Alejandro aren't her signature hits!?!? :duck:Where in the world are you living, omg... :smh:

What GP mostly hears is the radio which means Applause is definitely recognized by GP, especially back then when streaming wasn't a thing. Who cares about certifications ww when they aren't even updated... And by your logic SBHTS defines that Applause was smaller than Dance In The Dark? :billie: The Cure was a radio hit unlike MR outside US. The Greatest hits should have almost all her platinum singles so far, not only the few biggest smashes. :bye:

Paparazzi

Bad Romance

Alejandro

Born This Way

Judas

The Edge of Glory

Yoü and I

Oh look! A plethora of bad faith arguments I was talking about! As if pointing out Applause didn't make the cut for the SBHTS implies DITD is bigger, puh-leaseee :v:

Monsters holding on to the "TC was such a hit" thing is really funny. Remember when people said they'd rather have a MV for that over ASIB? To be fair, radio was the one format where Shallow didn't shine so bright, so I'm certain The Cure is more recognizable to the GP :ladyhaha:

Also, yeah, shame on me for believing big smashes should be included on a "Greatest Hits" album. Let's put every Gaga song that's Platinum on there, 'cause they're all winners in our hearts :kara:

Bit awkward for G.U.Y. being literally the only single not to make the cut. Maybe we should include songs that are Gold, too. Is G.U.Y. gold yet? If not, maybe Silver? We don't want to upset the 3 megafans that still stan it by implying it's anything less that a smash hit, a cultural reset and a career highlight, on the same level of iconicness as Poker Face and Bad Romance combined.

Im sure applause, the cure will make the Greatest hits album, if there is one. Or maybe even scheisse cause that song j sfan favourite + a song that's important in her career (broken hips). She even opened coachella with Scheisse
