March34th 1,973
As u may or may not know, yesterday was Canada Day, so naturally thousands felt inclined to break social distancing despite complaining about the BLM Protests a few weeks ago for "breaking social distance rules" all for the sake of going to the beach or to Niagara.... https://torontosun.com/news/provincial/hordes-spend-canada-day-at-wasaga-beach-niagara-falls Basically a ton of people showed up at Wasaga Beach, which is very popular beach town destination in Southwestern Ontario on Georgian Bay. There was absolutely zero regard for social distancing and these people clearly did not comprehend that we are still in a pandemic and Toronto is currently still under heavy restrictions due to the fact that they are pretty much the epicentre of COVID-19 in Ontario. Other cities in the region like London are seeing steady drops in cases despite malls and bar patios reopening, and apparently Niagara Falls was has been free of new cases of the virus. The replies to these Tweets are disgusting but really show the delusion of some people thinking the virus is no longer (or never was an issue) Some good news () is Wasaga closed the main public beach to avoid this becoming a daily thing https://www.simcoe.com/news-story/10056991-wasaga-beach-to-close-main-beach-area-limit-parking-to-control-covid19/ This is so insane. I hate how so many people have this mindset that just because they personally haven't gotten coronavirus (or are asymptomatic carriers) or no one in their personal circle has it, or because cases are dropping in a lot of areas in Canada, that it's perfectly okay to just run back outside with no regard to the possibility that they could become infected and die or infect others who will then die or become severely ill and have other complications. This feels like a huge slap in the face to the thousands who have died or become severely ill due to the virus in the past couple months here in Canada, and the thousands more who have had to deal with things like unemployment, food insecurity, and mental health crises due to the lockdowns, but are still being resilient and trying to help the community by staying home/distancing/wearing masks - yet people are acting like the virus is over. I'm so disgusted that this is happening here. Ontario is gonna turn into a Florida situation real fast if people don't start being intelligent. Agreed this is so gross to see. Plus considering Wasaga is just one of a string of small towns/cities in this area, I don't even want to start thinking about what could happen to the locals. Having a small town swarmed by hundreds of people who travelled from places all across the region could easily spell disaster, but I'm glad the local politicans decided to close the beach for the foreseeable future. The local provincial parks are still open though (which I think they should be closed) but at least closing the public beach will assist in this hopefully not causing a new outbreak in this area, we've been doing really good and people have been able to return to work and see friends every now and then, but it feels like with each passing day people just get more and more stupid. Born in Chromatica 7
It is a slap in the face for those who do the right thing. Why is Covid 19 not taken seriously. So annoying. FaShIoN iS mY pAsSiOn!

I've spent the past hour looking at the Wasaga Beach hashtag on Twitter and looking at all the replies from people claiming the coronavirus is a scam or the masks are "mind control devices" like these people are really that stupid... and the scary thing is THEY are the ones going outside and ignoring social distancing and not caring if they infect people because they don't even believe COVID-19 is A) a thing or B) as serious as it really is. I've seen 3 friends in the past 4 months I'm in my room suffering, depressed, missing my friends and wanting nothing more to get drunk at a bar or go on a walk with my girls or go to the movies or something but I'm trying to stay smart because I'm young and could easily be a carrier. I saw an article interviewing different experts yesterday and one of them said something like, "I've accepted this may be the case for 2 years" and I just cried for like 20 mins I might have gone to see my mom and sibling after self-isolating for a period, but they both have a health problem and I live far away from them in a city that was doing pretty badly so didn't want to risk it. It sucks but I think you're doing the right thing being careful. Anyway I'm not even saying people need to be as extreme as my circumstance but the crowds in those pics Edited just now by anonanon

Anyway I'm not even saying people need to be as extreme as my circumstance but the crowds in those pics I'm sorry that it's affected you emotionally that way, but trust me I know how you feel. My living situation is really bad right now (been living at my parents for the past year or so trying to figure out life stuff and income) and coronavirus completely destroyed all the work I had done. I have been having depression slumps constantly and my anxiety disorder and my paranoia is really getting to me and I constantly am anxious that someone I know is going to catch the virus and die or some apocalyptic over-the-top scenario will play in my head and I'll just spiral into a crying mess. I just wish people understood that not everything is a government conspiracy. Masks are not "mind control" and you cannot die from wearing a mask or "breathing back in carbon dioxide" from wearing a mask. The Chinese did not create the virus in a lab. It started because it mutated and became infectious to humans and then because it originated in China, spread over the winter months until it was noticed worldwide. If people had of stopped with their "omg 5g coronavirus apocalypse judgement day is coming repent" crap and actually listened to the WHO and scientists worldwide we'd probably have this under control a bit better and we could see things panning out much better. People are just so defiant and it's seriously childlike. I think it's likely that this will continue for another year or so, and I don't see us avoiding a second wave especially in the United States. It's freaking me out though now that I can see people in areas VERY close to me now (such as Wasaga) doing dumb sh*t like this...
LaLa 19,898
I laughed at this one So Sauble beach was right to close down before Canada Day obvi, would have been the exact same thing. So many people simply do not care. I haven't seen my parents since mid-February, missing my birthday, mother's day, father's day... and people are out here wilding

Plus I guess they've had really high water levels there this year, so the "beach" is pretty much right up to the pavement which is gonna make it more crowded. Thank god for the internet we can at least talk to each other, but I definitely feel for people who were trying to make major life changes or have bad living situation. Sorry this has been difficult for you. The conspiracy theorists are something else. The area I'm from filled with them and I just want to be like you know the single tiny hospital in a 50 mile radius is not the infrastructure you want supporting an outbreak...
