I think the whole reason they’ve never collaborated since is because Gaga knows she doesn’t write or really get too creative in the studio and collaborate. bey said in an interview that she saw gaga’s VMA performance (well, she said ‘billboard awards’ but gaga’s never performed at the BBMAs so i assume she meant VMAs) and called her up because she wanted her on videophone. Then gaga asked her to be on Telephone.

He didn’t refuse anything. Gaga was supposed to be on BDKMV but both couldn’t finalize the song together before a pre order date (Gaga was probably too busy). And with PARTYNAUSEOUS Kendrick’s label wanted to do something different with the song than Gaga had expected. Their version that leaked was probably the edited one which Gaga didn’t want (notice how her vocals sound edited). Gaga described the original as Hip-hop/pop with some j-pop and techno pop influences. My guess is that his team didn’t want to have the wrong image with his first album so they tried to make it as close to hip-hop. Kendrick has been pretty supportive with Gaga and when she uploaded their demo of BDKMV he was supportive and thought it was cool of her to do that. GovernmentHooker 220
Why did Beyoncé agree to collab with literally the biggest pop star of the year who had two #1 hit singles (Poker Face and Just Dance) and another two top 5 hit singles (Lovegame and Paparazzi) that year... Hmm makes me think... It's not like Gaga was doing better than Beyoncé or anything

Gaga didn’t just text Beyoncé n be like “hey come over let’s write a song” I guess what I’m saying is, I wonder how much of a day Beyoncé, or Gaga, really had in this collab Well B called Gaga first about being on Video Phone, and then Gaga asked her to be on Telephone in return. So them collabing was initially B's idea, or at the very least, B's manager's idea
Mr S 8,672
Obviously because Gaga did Videophone, so she returned the favor. The question you should be asking is, why did she want Gaga on Videophone. That was her big pop star era. She also did a collab with Shakira for that album. I think she prefers performers who can sing, hence why she picked Shakira and Gaga. Britney, Rihanna and Katy can't sing well and Christina isn't a great performer. Those were the main pop girls back then.

I feel like Telephone was a moment for Bey to step away from the “perfect” persona and do a really weird, funny, and campy video. This was during Sasha Fierce and the whole gimmick during that era was stepping away from she usually did, and thus was a more pop oriented era with high fashion, etc. and then Gaga tried to emulate Bey with the videophone video with the leotard, high heels, flowing hair, and sassy persona. They both used their songs to step out of their usual elements/comfort zones I want them to perform together so bad This is the correct answer. Gaga was bigger than her chartwise and that's fact (2 #1 single, 5 songs constructive top 5), so why act surprised when she chose to collab with one of the biggest star in the world? Because there were many big stars during Bey's imperial phase such as Britney Spears (arguably bigger than both), Rihanan, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, yet only Gaga (and Shakira) were sought after by her. Obviously Bey wanted them because they were big and this was her pop star phase when she had ambition and drive for pop stardom. It's interesting that she wanted Gaga (and Shakira) but not the others.
