I think Beyoncé and Gaga met a bit earlier before the collab happened and they became friends.

And... as an addition to your post - she ALWAYS collabs with artists who are the ‘new‘ or ‘Popular’ thing.

Sean Paul

Shakira

Gaga

The Weeknd

all for clout and relevancy.

Well let's not pretend having Ariana and Blackpink on her album is not also a commercial move (+ being a friendship act).

That's said I'm sure Beyoncé is a friendship collaboration as well (exactly the same way she did with Elton, Tony, Ariana, Florence). It's not like Telephone couldn't work as a solo track. If Gaga thought about Beyoncé, that's she really wanted to work with her.

It was probably label’s putting them together, because Gaga was the biggest pop star in the world.

I think the whole reason they’ve never collaborated since is because Gaga knows she doesn’t write or really get too creative in the studio and collaborate.

I would’ve said Ariana yes if Gaga had dropped Chromatica in like 2018/2019 because that’s when Ariana was massive. Gaga added her to the album at the end of 2019 after they’d been friends for a few years.

BLACKPINK whilst having a strong fan base don’t have any western hits so it’s hardly a relevancy thing. However I don’t think it’s a geniune collaboration tbh because they didn’t work together, they’ve never really met, Gaga barely spoke about it. I think that interscope pushed for Sour Candy because of the power of KPop on streaming services and Gaga didn’t want to work with say BTS so she picked BLACKPINK, like how they pushed for a hip-hop collab on ARTPOP the whole time.

Honestly I'll never understand the mutual hate coming from Gaga and Beyoncé fanbases against the two artists (maybe based on mutual jealousy ?). It's not like there's any sign of hate or feud between them.

Beyoncé and Gaga doesn't have anything to prove anymore to anyone concerning their power in music industry. It's great they are friends.

Shakira was not even close to being a new singer

She worked with these artists later is their career: Nicki, Usher, Ed Sheren, Alicia Keys, Eminem, Dixie Chicks, Justin Timberlake, DJ Khalid, Kanye West, Drake, Coldplay, Mary J Blige, Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, Missy Elliott, Frank Ocean, Luther Vandross..

Well Kendrick was a new artist with no album when Gaga collaborated with him, and he still declined and refuse to work with her twice.

Both songs were meant to be on his album, and had a schedule released date.
