They steal and collect your data so they can advertise, discriminate, and collect your data so the govt. can cancel you if they wanted, with all your deepest darkest secrets. Look into “Big Data” online... it’s not cute.

Anything you do online your data gets collected. You know if you EVER logged into Facebook on a device they can track what websites you visit even after you log out? Even a place as trivial as a Minecraft server collects your information. The second you log in they have your IP. Admin on here has your IP. If you get an add-on for business tracking from Snapchat you can see random ass sites collecting information from you to better advertise and target snapchat users. Literally every single thing you do online that involves a third party is tracked.

I just need some people to debunk this. It's hard to believe they are able to download any kind of remote file. Even in Android.

It's possible to do this and I say this as a software developer. You can easily download a file. Even if some extensions are blocked, you can lie and store it as a jpeg, then download, change extension to zip (as simple as a rename).

And reflection allows you to run code on run time. especially since they have an LLVM interpreter of sorts. This wouldn't be possible on iOS afaik since all code must be compiled ahead of time on iOS. Still there's a lot of other shady stuff they can do even on iOS and apps have done it before.

This doesn't mean they're doing it. It means they can and have the infrastructure. Better safe than sorry.

Again, US gov has your data too. So why are we getting alarmed when it's China?

Who said I like that the US gov has it? Idk what they’d do, but why doesn’t it concern you that a government that literally censors media is doing it? That can’t be good...

Chile idk... cry?

Imagine cancel culture but it’s your private texts, search history, and other things that seem fine now but suddenly won’t be in 10 years. The mess...

That’s not something to be proud of luv. If people smart enough to reverse engineer an app are concerned, why shouldn’t we? It’s not nice to hear the clock app is doing it way more aggressively than the others is not cute when it’s not as deep as the other apps...

This is probably a dumb question for y’all but sue me. Even if you delete for example an Instagram photo, it’s somehow still stored for them, right? Once you put something out there, in any app or anything, is it already too late and there’s no way of completely deleting  your “digital print” regardless?

Depends on the site. Some websites say they will delete your data permanently from their servers but if it's intercepted or saved before that, then well :emma:

In general, best security practice is to assume the worst. Anything on the internet is compromised information, even if it was up for 2 seconds.

All social media and most phone apps track you and take all your data and sell it to ad companies ANYWAY. Why should I care about this ?

The attitude of people in denial about the truly malicious things people want your data for is...yikes 😬

Then again, things are being posted so much at every second from many people of the entire world, wouldn’t it be too out of control to keep track of someone, let alone store everything and classify them?

Usually it's computers doing that, not people. Plus if something's up for a long time, it's likely that Google/Wayback Machine/others cache it and store it.

Even embedded Twitter tweets still show the text after a tweet is deleted.

:saladga: So if you’ve permanently deleted your twitter account or Facebook profile a few years ago, it’s somehow still there, in “code” mode?
