So I was listening to Chromatica as one does for probably the 400th time and realized there's a background vocal that my boyfriend pointed out first. He thought she was saying, "L. O. L." which would've been cringey af Instead I realized she's saying "Album, al... Album, al..." It's at the 2:50 mark. Which further supports the idea of Gaga feeling like her fans are treating her like a pop music making doll. We've just been mindlessly demanding "album! Album!" from her for past few years. But even though she knows some people are just kidding, she says, "don't play with me. It just hurts me." And that could tie in with the bridge being about the Joanne era. While she recorded such a personal album that included subjects that were hard for her to delve into, fans couldn't get over the visuals and the hat ("who dressed you, where'd you get that hat?"). I remember people on this forum complaining that she was underdressed every time she would leave her house. Malibu Gaga was still sad. And in the last chorus right after that, those yells of "album! album!" reflect how fans have treated her since then. But she makes it clear, "no no no, I'm not your plastic doll."
