Your aunt says something racist in 2020, "oh, she's just being herself, don't mind her, she's quirky". Trump says/DOES something absurdly evil and racist in 2020, "oh there he goes again, Trump being Trump, hope people don't make him president again...". A public figure says something years ago with the approval of the general public, "to the guillotine with them! apologies are never enough!". It's just low hanging fruit at this point, since almost everyone behaved this way some years ago. And yes, I know that you, the person that will reply to this, are a perfect saint that never ever did anything wrong in your past.
