people were pissed off mostly because the main character from the previous game was killed by a character that you'll play as in the 2nd half of TLOU2

The story is a bit messier in this one, but... it's not linear, so there's that 
For what it's worth, I think Ellie's arc is executed very well

The real problem is the story and the way they treated some of the characters. Not only the LGBT thing.

Only watched some cutscenes tho — my bad, everyone is saying Abby is trans so I thought she was. Is she simply a female bodybuilder? Isn’t there a sex scene that implies she is trans?
