Not only that, but I don’t know many people around my age (which is 24) that have heard most of her music. Of course most everyone knows the big hits like “9-5” (which is honest to God the only song of hers I know), but they haven’t heard most of her discography. The only person from the 20th century that I’ve heard their entire discography is Madonna, and that’s partially because she’s still releasing music today. It’s hard for me to get into artists that have retired, bc it’s not like if I become a fan there’s something to look forward to. Now, with all of that in mind, what I said was pretty obviously a joke. Do you ever watch channels like “The Necki Menij Show” or “The Ladey Gaga Show” on YouTube. Those channels consist of mostly shady jokes towards pop stars. Most of the stuff I say here is comparable to the jokes they make. The “this is literally news to me” was actually inspired by them. There’s one episode where it talks about how Adele’s been gone for so long, and Beyonce says “Wait, Adele’s alive? This is literally news to me.” Now, are you going to get butthurt that someone suggested that someone being alive was shocking to them? Sorry I’m rambling, I’ve just never seen someone so unable to grasp what a joke is on the internet before. Y’all need to take notes from stan twitter in this regard. Well I'm younger than you, and many of my friends know her bigger songs. However, her discography is utterly massive. I certainly don't expect most people to have heard someone's entire discography when it consists of well over 50 albums. I'm not really sure how that is justification for the comments you made, but ok. On the bright side, Dolly is certainly not retired and never plans to leave show business. In fact, she just released a new single at the end of May this year. Look... humor is certainly subjective. I didn't find your "jokes" (if you want to call them that) to be humorous in any capacity. They seemed to fit the definition of flamebait (per GGD guidelines) to the tee, so I treated them as such. Moreover, I surely am not going to look to stan Twitter as the place to emulate when interacting on the internet. If you want to continue this conversation via PM, I'm more than happy to. I didn’t say you should look to stan twitter in terms of how YOU act, I’m saying that it would do you well to see how people act there, since it would explain almost all of my behavior. I was on stan twitter for a good few years, before I got banned from twitter for “bullying a homophobe” (I tried to get him banned from twitter for being a homophobe. Shocking, I know). My point is, stan twitter influenced my behavior. If you have a problem with it, that’s fine, but please at least acknowledge that the reason why I’m so snarky is because I entered an environment full of snarky people, and it kind of changed who I was. Also, if you’re not open to differing opinions or snarky jokes, the internet probably isn’t the best place for you. The song is beautiful, I love the choir, and Dolly's singing is as great as ever. There's not many living legends, but Dolly certainly has earned that distinction.
