Although we ended up with the Koons ball imagery instead of the Disney Princesses, it hurts to say that the "decay" of the blonde superstar actually happened... At the same time, a new generation of Tumblr indie pop girls was flooding the market, while Katy was peaking in 2013-2014 and Taylor/Adele in 2014-2015...but that was the last hoorah, and after that pop would never be the same. HeavyyMetalVenuss 1,765 Posted June 18, 2020 Share Posted June 18, 2020 i’ve always had a thought in the back of my mind that ARTPOP did successfully carry out that concept of her’s. i don’t think that’s to say that gaga intentionally sabotaged the era rollout, with “bad music” or “unstable promo.” (the album has some of her best ) but she’s smart enough to have probably been able to tell that the market was oversaturated with her music at the time, and mainstream pop in general. i think gaga definitely had the foresight to see that ARTPOP could be a decline era after having her hay day for so long!
