IAmNotHere1997 25,824
Born This Way is a legendary, it wins by default. It's a one-in-a-lifetime album. The record for an entire generation. It will never be topped, and it will always have a very sacred place in monsters' hearts.
HeavyCapiLover 2,920
Chromatica is such a travel, it's more cohesive and very deep but BTW is her magnum opus. BTW had such big impact on my life, and it's the album that gave us Bloody mary, HML, Sheisse, Judas, Marry the night...
He8MyHeart 9,533
I love Chromatica but I prefer the vibe of Born This Way.
FRANK1991 3,318
Chromatica is cohesive but if you put it that way: "takes you there" well it has to be Born This Way. Marry the Night, Judas, Hair, Scheisse, Highway Unicorn, Heavy Metal Lover, Electric Chapel, and finally The Edge of Glory. These songs just brings out the best of times. The album was diverse with lots of flavors but all had a sense of dark, religious, mysterious adventure. I'm sure with time Chromatica will become one, but right now BTW is remains untouched. Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone

Guest
As some said, BTW has some her best songs (BJ+AF, Electric Chapel, Bloody Mary etc) but it also has some of her worst songs (Highway Unicorn, The Queen, Americano) meanwhile Chromatica has a constant rate of good, except the dated production on sine and 1000 doves) but it includes some of her best songs (Alice, Rain On Me, Enigma & Babylon) meanwhile it doesn’t include her worst songs, so Imma go w Chromatica
Reality 72,130
Comparing them is like comparing Infinity War and Endgame for me BTW is like Endgame in the sense that it has higher highs and lower lows. BTW has some of my favorite Gaga songs, but also some of my least favorite Gaga songs. Chromatica is like Infinity War in the sense that it’s very consistent throughout. There are stand out moments, but I wouldn’t say that there are “higher highs” in Chromatica compared to BTW. I love both a lot—they’re my two favorite Gaga albums—but I do like Chromatica better. There are no skips on Chromatica. There are definitely some on BTW. 𝕀𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕖 𝕒 𝕤𝕚𝕟𝕟𝕖𝕣, 𝕀 𝕔𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕞𝕒𝕜𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕓𝕖𝕝𝕚𝕖𝕧𝕖

The production for this album is objectively great. Whether you like it or not is irrelevant to the fact that it’s good production. As for the lyrical content of Chromatica, I couldn’t disagree with you more. Chromatica has some of her best lyrics. Period. A lot of the lyrics rival BTW’s lyrics. 911 alone, lyrically, is one of her best. 𝕀𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕖 𝕒 𝕤𝕚𝕟𝕟𝕖𝕣, 𝕀 𝕔𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕞𝕒𝕜𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕓𝕖𝕝𝕚𝕖𝕧𝕖

dynamite 50,362
I don't dislike many songs on Chromatica but Born This Way without question. It's a religious experience. It's way more interesting, original and a lot of songs hit harder than anything on Chromatica. There are a few meh songs but that doesn't hurt the overall album. I love it

My comment said it was generic, at least on most songs, and that’s why it doesn’t take me places as BTW’s does. You can’t argue that we’ve heard the same type of production of songs like SL, sour candy, free woman etc before ... And about the lyrics... I said « many », and yes I agree 911 is a highlight in that aspect, but there’s also ones like Plastic Doll that have good intentions but cringey and immature execution. And with « forced » I meant lyrics such as « I’m completely numb, why you acting dumb », « light up my body and kiss me too hardly » that sound off to me as a listener. There weren’t any lyrical masterpieces like Marry the night, that’s for sure. 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞

There weren’t any lyrical masterpieces like Marry the night, that’s for sure. I don't think it sounds that "generic" though. It sounds like a lot of old-school house, disco, techno, etc., which is what they were going for. Several interviews with her producers mention the fact that they wanted this album to feel familiar, yet contemporary, and I think they accomplished that. With BTW, they were just doing a bunch of crazy sh*t that ended up working out really well. With Chromatica, they didn't do that because it wasn't what they envisioned. The songs you mentioned have similar productions, maybe, but they all sound distinctly their own. SL sounds different than Sour Candy, which sounds different than FW. I think Plastic Doll's lyrics are fine. They're not necessarily the best, but they're not awful. And actually, if it does sound "cringey and immature," I think that's kinda the point...especially with a song like Plasic Doll. Sonically, it sounds "immature," but I think that helps to reinforce the metaphor of using a plastic doll, which is a children's toy. I think it's really clever. As for the other lyrics you mentioned, I also think they're fine. I don't see why you have a problem with them. Finally...these are MTN's lyrics: Spoiler I'm gonna marry the night I won't give up on my life I'm a warrior queen Live passionately, tonight I'm gonna marry the dark Gonna make love to the stark I'm a soldier to my Own emptiness, I'm a winner I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the I'm gonna marry the I'm gonna marry the I'm gonna marry the I'm gonna marry the night I'm not gonna cry anymore I'm gonna marry the night Leave nothin' on these streets to explore M-m-m-marry, m-m-m-marry, M-m-m-marry the night. Oh, m-m-marry, m-m-m-marry, M-m-m-marry the night. I'm gonna lace up my boots Throw on some leather and cruise Down the street that I love In my fishnet gloves, I'm a sinner Then I'll go down to the bar But I won't cry anymore I'll hold my whiskey up high Kiss the bartender twice, I'm a loser I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night I'm gonna marry the night The night, the night The night, the night Don't get me wrong, I really love the song, and I think the verses are good, but MTN is no more of a "masterpiece" than like 3/4ths of Chromatica.
