But while watching this music video or may i say short film, and how grand it was. I couldn’t help but remember how during that time, like what DJWS said, she lost her entire support team, she lost her label’s financing. All she had left was her own bank account and a few loyal people from the HAUS. It’s sad that she didn’t let go of the era after the Roar mess, Do What U Want mess, and Troye leaving mess, She STILL tried to fight for ARTPOP’s last breath, Because it means that this was such a dream project for her and we knew it was dead we knew it was a failure yet she invested a million dollars on a music video to give the era one last shot and how it could go from there. Yet still... G.U.Y. bombed. A reason why I’ll always love ARTPOP, knowing she poured her soul into that project and did the last thing she could. She said in an interview that she clearly does not know what all she has too do with Katy Perry so in Gaga’s world that was not a competition for her, it was only the media. DWUW mess? She cancelled the video because it was not a video that was going to be a good step in her career, which she understood at the end. And about the million dollar invest on the video, she did that video for us, her fans. GUY was a fan favorite and as we did not get the DWUW video or Venus video she decided too give us a video for GUY. But it was not because she was thinking it was gonna blow the charts or push it. Know ur facts Ok here is the thing, those things I’ve mentioned tainted ARTPOP’s rollout one way or another. Hence why they were considered a mess. It came from Gaga herself, she was betrayed. All I’m saying is that after things didn’t go how it should’ve gone, Gaga continued to save it with her own money. I didn’t mention anything about charts. honk 526 Posted June 12, 2020 Share Posted June 12, 2020 Gaga has implied so many times throughout her career that she was and still is in love with ARTPOP and everything it stood for. I think during Joanne, Gaga was still processing the events of 2013/2014 so that's why she came across as cold towards ARTPOP. Undoubtedly it was a dark moment in her career, but I think she's able to poke fun at herself, even though she's well aware circumstances prevented it from being accepted. It was misunderstood because of how sure she was in herself at the time. ARTPOP was definitely ahead of its time and Chromatica is quite *with* the times. Conceptually, ARTPOP is stronger than Chromatica (TO ME), but that's not to say Chromatica is a bad album. It's great that Gaga got to essentially try again with ARTPOP this time around and have it work in her favour. I see both albums as yin and yang. Both albums are about pain. And you really don’t know if it was with her own money like Where did you take that from? Everything she does has a budget and the musicvideo is under Interscope so By the Way you are legit saying we knew it was a failure. Why was it a failure? Because people like you think it didn’t sell good. If not, why was it a failure? It ”underperfomed”, which I personally don’t think it did comparing to all the other albums that were released that year but it was the media that came after her for e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g she did.
