He asked his training officer what to do and for guidance (his training officer was Chauvin). The rookie asked several times if they should roll him over, and his training officer said no, and explained the policy of the police department. The rookie had no reason to doubt the instruction by his training officer, as well as the other rookie who was there, a black officer who also was new. The training officer needs to take the blame for this, not the rookies who are mandated to follow the training officer's instruction and to have faith in his direction. The only thing the rookie could have done to not be charged with a crime would have been to quit the police force right then and there, or to physically assault his training officer after 4 days on the force. If they don't have the autonomy to question their... "training officer", they have no business being a cop. Or they do, actually, since cops are mindless drones for government to use anyway. I think Chauvin should burn, but the two rookies who were charged as well should not take blame for this (one of them was black). The rookie stated he was considering George's possible medical distress, and Chauvin said, "That's why we have him on his stomach." They should, at the very least, be banned from ever being a police officer again, on top of some jail time - time I cannot specify because I'm not that well versed with american law. It would have gotten swept under the rug and relied on “fake actor portrayals” as evidence released by the media. The 17 year old recording could only do so much. The officers should have to serve some kind of punishment. It’s sad that they’re are people in jail serving longer sentences than this man had to.
