In 2017, L'Oreal had hired UK model Munroe Bergdorf as their first transgender brand ambassador. She was fired shortly after, because L'Oreal did not agree with her publically criticizing white supremacy and systemic racism against black people.

As of today, L'Oreal's new president Delphine Viguier, has reached out to Munroe and officially apologized for the way the company has treated her years ago, pledged two £25,000 donation to UK Black Lives and Mermaid's Gender (a charity supporting transgender and non-binary youth in the UK). In addition to the apology and donations, Viguier has offered Munroe an executive position as a consultant on their diversity & inclusion board, which Munroe has accepted.

From what I know, they had a really toxic relationship and basically abused/beat up/hurt each other over and over again, Amber Heard went public first about Depp beating her and there was a sh*t storm of reaction calling out Johnny Depp for being a domestic abuser, but then years later it came to public that Amber Heard was just as bad in the relationship as he was and that the abuse was basically mutual. :rip:

How odd that this is happening now, I hate that brands are using BLM movement to makes themselves look better!

Nope. Not mutual. Amber Heard had manipulated Depp and even blackmailed him. Again the channel I shared shows text messages where Amber files for divorce but tells Depp that she won't tell the world that he beat her up (even tho he never did) if he gives her money, cars and monthly allowances, which Depp refused. She then told the world a lie that ruined his reputation.

Johnny Depp has never beat Amber so it's not mutual. Amber also cut his finger off in Australia, her makeup artist also told the investigators that Amber faked her 'injuries' with makeup and asked her to do it. There are just so much more proof in those videos that'll show you that Johnny is a victim, not the abuser

It's naive to think any of these big companies really care about anything else but money no matter how hard they have to appear like they give a ****. It's sad but it's true. The amount of money they donate to these charities isn't anywhere near what they make off the back of this PR.

Exactly. For decades these brands have paid slave labour to black and brown workers in developing countries, promoting products that kill wildlife and degrade the environment and encourage POC to bleach their skin. The fashion industry in many ways is the new slavery.

I agree with you but saying that the fashion industry is the new slavery is kind of insensitive seeing as how slavery was way worse.

Slavery in the past (with whips and chains) was physically worse than today’s slavery but the concept still exists. There an estimated 40 million slaves today (according to the UN) - the greatest number in all history. Although they may not be treated as violently as in the past, they are still slaves in the sense of being purposely deprived of basic human rights.

I know that, sadly still in 2020 there is slavery.
