Y’all are too much. If the NY cops were to shut themselves down what do you think would happen? Criminals would somehow be appeased and just decide on their own to stop? Stop letting emotion get in the way of common sense. 

Of course there are problems with policing, but the assumption that the country would be better without them is dangerous and objectively false.

I agree with this. But when people say #DefundThePolice it’s important to realize they don’t mean shut down the police. Obviously police are needed and there are several thousand who are upstanding citizens but we need to weed out the batch who are barely educated and took the job to terrorize innocent people, mainly being blacks.

Actually a police union did that before as a type of "protest". Arrests fell but amazingly, the world didn't end. No one even noticed. Almost like most arrests are superfluous.

Of course we need cops but we don't need poorly trained soldiers with no restraint enforcing the law

The narrative that you're pushing is objectively false. Nobody wants to completely scrap the police force. We want to scrap the institution itself and rebuild it so that it no longer unfairly targets POC.

Stop your emotions from getting in the way and letting them cloud the bigger picture.

Omg at some of you asserting that I don’t understand what defunding the police means. Stop pretending like there haven’t been MANY quotes such as the one above across multiple threads implying that there would be no difference whether a police force existed or not and that they should be abolished completely. Actually read WHAT I SAID and not WHAT YOU WANT ME TO HAVE SAID. That’s a game for beginners and I’m not that one.
