At this point in her career Madonna made Ray of Light guys :awkney:

Actually, she made Bedtime Stories. Age wise, Madonna had released Erotica.

Madonna released Confessions on a Dance Floor which had a similar formula : all dance tracks linked together by a unifying production. And that album is still regarded among the very best. I don’t think Madonna is envious of Chromatica.

Chic

Do Madonna fans really want her to make an album with that sound?

I don’t really think this sound would work for her. Especially when it comes to the vocals

Can they ****ing collab already to end all this **** like :triggered:

I'm still convinced it was a PR stunt that got out of hand and turned into a "real" feud, since Guy Osray and Troy were friends at the time (fans found a bunch of photos of them hanging out together), BTW was underperforming from what was expected after having a huge first week, and Madonna wasn't selling as expected.

Ugh I wish they would stop comparing the two. You rarely see this with male artists, and even with other women artists it's not that common. I'm aware it seems "stan like" but it's almost like Gaga (she's not the only female artist that deals with it) gets held to a weird/different standard at times. Like Lana's Norman F*cking Rockwell is very, very similar to Diamonds and Rust (compare the lyrics and even the melody....h*ll, both songs even reference "lousy/bad poetry"), arguably just as much as Babylon/BTW to Madonna songs if not more, and I don't think I've seen a single person call it out like they've done with Gaga and Madonna. Granted, Lana gets dragged unfairly for different things (still not excusing her tone deaf IG posts here tho!).

I don't see how someone who released Like a Prayer, Ray of Light and Confessions would want to prove anything anymore.

I hear much more Bowie in that song tbh. Fame + Fashion combined. Yes, it does remind Vogue in some aspects but mostly because they draw inspiration from the same sources. Let's not pretend Madonna came up with talking authoritatively over a funky beat, or voguing for that matter.

I know, that's exactly my point. But people automatically make the association and start bringing Madonna into the conversation.

IDK about that. There are so many modern tropes the album has that the typical boomer generation Madonna fan would just not understand

We weren't happy when a reviewer said Future Nostalgia was the sound Gaga was "chasing for years", so we should also not be happy about about this

The comparisons are just unnecessary imo, review something on its own merits or don't review it at all.
