So hey guys, here I am high once again and listening to Chromatica and this thought came to my mind:

What if Replay is actually Gaga and Stefsni talking to each other?

Like Gaga's desire to be famous pulled the trigger so many things, some bad like paparszzis, stalkers, stress idk. But also it was Stefani's dream, that why she's the worst thing happened to her.

The scars on her mind are all the hard stuff she been through when she wss beconing famous

The bridge is about someone with psychellocigal problems

The monsters torturing her are us indeed :bradley:

... and now i just sit in silence.

That's possibly part of it and makes sense.

I think the trauma aspect is still very important to it. It's probably about the rape more directly but partly also about herself.

Just like Fun Tonight can be a conversation with oneself. "You love the paparazzi, love the fame, even though you know it causes me pain."

A reasonable and interesting interpretation.

Primarily it's about her sexual assault and the PTSD that arose out of it. But that's not the only "monster" she's been dealing with. Impact of fame, drugs, depression, negative public perception, effects of bullying, being told she wasn't sexy enough or smart enough or can't write a good enough song or win a Grammy etc. (plug in her TMBT speech here)

In her Spotify storyline, she says "and the very thing that has plagued my mind for years, trauma, is now the thing that drives me to be braver" (paraphrasing) which fits with the you're the worst thing and the best thing that's happened to me lyric.

I break it down as:

First verse - her sexual assault, the things that she has gone through over the years in her head

Second verse - her trying to come to terms with it and using that as her weapon instead of weakness, growing stronger because of it

Bridge - trying to attribute an abstraction to her PTSD, trying to explain what she goes through every day in a graphic way (psychologically it's something that I can't explain, scratch my nails in to the dirt to pull me out again)

And no, we're not the monsters torturing her :smh: it's her inner demons. No matter how ridiculous this fanbase gets, she still loves us. And we should be forever grateful for that :kara:

Funny I've been listening to it for the past few minutes while I was writing this

"I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. They are my family, this is my home and you are not welcome here."

I believe this song has many different meanings. Some that Gaga may not even have intended but some how subconsciously put out into the world.

This is what I've been saying since the day the album came out. Most people think it's Gaga talking about us. I think it's her human self talking about her pop persona.

I feel like she loves to make her songs have multiple meanings. You hear her talk about this often.

It very likely may be this and her trauma both

I relate Replay to addiction. Especially because of the lyrics "every single day, yeah I dig a grave. Then I sit inside it wondering if I'll behave. "

That's literally the addiction cycle.

From Spotify during Replay:

"Chromatica cannot exist without an abstract explanation of what's it's like to be triggered if you have PTSD. It's a replay of all my monsters, not the little ones :huntyga:. And the very thing that has plagued my mind for years, trauma, is precisely the thing that now powers my life force to be braver i.e. this voice I hear -- continue to make music even although your brain feels like it's breaking sometimes,"

I agree with you. From the first listen I knew this was a song about her having a conversation with herself, her Gaga persona and her private persona talking to each other, trying to blame each other for her own mental scars. I don't think the monster torturing her are us, I think those monsters are her memories of traumatic events on her life, which caused the scars she talks about in the chorus, and that she keeps reliving because of her PTSD. The first verse is Gaga speaking to Stefani, trying to blame her because she pulled the trigger, given she was the one who wanted to be famous and was willing to do anything for it. On the second verse, we have Stefani answering to Gaga, saying she is the worst and the best thing that's happened to her, because she is who made her famous. On the bridge, she comes to a conclusion, which is that it doesn't matter, because the damage is done already and there's nothing to do about it. This can also be proved by the pre-chorus, when she sings "I don't know what to do, you don't know what to say", she is talking about herself but making a difference between Stefani and Gaga.
