You don’t do the right thing to make people happy - you do it because it’s the right thing to do. It doesn’t matter if things are great in your country right now, in America they are not and Gaga is American, this is her home, of course she will be conscious of what’s going on and not just ignore it because some countries are fine. Also, Beyoncé does a lot for the black community just by existing as a successful black woman in America. Old enough to know you don’t discredit someone’s experience as a black woman just because they weren’t “unapologetically black” for most of their career. The fact it took until Lemonade for Beyoncé to be able to express herself in that way mainstream is not her fault, it is the fault of a media system that favors black artists that can be perceived as more “white”. Gaga isn’t doing right so the Black community will like her (whatever that means), she’s doing it because she cares. She released the album because the industry needed time to calibrate a new response. Now the world is in even deeper turmoil. Even if the US isn’t the center of the world, it’s Gaga’s main focus and market so it would be really bizarre of her to ignore what’s going on in her own backyard (LA) just because she dropped an album.
