Gaga has pulled out of YouTube grad event

Stop the dramatics! Chromatica is not another ARTPOP situation. We already have a #1 song and an upcoming #1 album. She's doing amazing under these circumstances and no promo. I'm sure she will resume the era again when it's time to do it. You can spark interest in an album again with a good new mv or performance.

I think it's a smart decision to pull out of this event. Whatever she says will be taken the wrong way. Twitter is never nice to this woman, who has one of the kindest hearts in the world!

:air: sorry but i cannot anymore

Everytime something bad happens (COVID, now police brutality) the whole freakin world doesn’t need to stop. Gaga at this point is sabotage her own era to try to be super politically correct and it’s out of hand. Literally people are looking forward to her being a performer. That’s who she is.

:selena:this just has no point anymore. You are ALLOWED to do things while protests occur. They aren’t the only event in the world.

And as a matter of fact, I bet many teens of color were waiting to see Gaga perform.

I got drunk

I’m very surprised if she has pulled out because it was always going to be a political social justice platform event given the lineup.  She may not have wanted to perform but I really thought she would basically reiterate what she said on social media but on film.

Nope. Anything a person says will be struck by lightning if it isn’t kneeling down and giving to the BLM movement.

sorry I’m in the US. And it is hyper sensitive right now. You literally post, love this new song, and you get flooded on FB and called a racist. I have left FB partly for that reason.

this is a critical moment for any celebrity and will either do good or bad for their career.

I definitely wasn't expecting a performance, but I'm really surprised she won't even be giving a message. I feel like hers would have been a lot more meaningful than some of these people....no shade to Jack Black :awkney:

I look forward to Meg's performance, I wonder what she'll perform.

Obviously disappointed, but COMPLETELY understand if she doesn’t. Would have been nice if she had performed Angel Down at least or something, but I do get where she’s coming from.

I genuinely do feel bad for these grads though... Covid completely ****ed up their graduation year, and now what’s going on in America is kind of overshadowing their grad.

(PLEASE don’t quote me and say that what’s going on in America is more important; I’m well aware! I just feel bad for the grads as well!)

That’s the most frustrating part is she won’t do anything or talk about anything else. You can still support BLM while supporting 2020 graduates. Nobody else on the lineup seems to have this problem.

Or maybe mentally she isn't doing so well? Leave her alone.

Racism is a global problem.

I understand her doing that in solidarity for the gloomy climate and giving opportunity to other black people to perform and speak. But just having her spot replaced for Katy Perry feels pointless (nothing against katy tho)

Love that Gaga is so sensitive and respectful for these tragedies, but she needs to stop acting like it's a crime to have her life and career, even if it's privileged (after all, I don't think she's willing to give up all her possesions and start an anarchist revolution).

She released statements, is donating to multiple organizations and giving her platform so black people speak in her acc. And I'm sure she's doing much more behind the scenes. But gurl, stop being so guilty all the time. And only acknowledging ROM going #1 cause one of the writers (who's black) celebrated it online is a sign of that.

But the problem of police brutality, riots and the destruction of cities is not a global problem.

There are at least a dozen countries that now have more problems than riot and racism, but they are not talked about.

Most of these countries also don’t have the issue of politics like the US does. They don’t have a president who wants the riots to get worse with the way he’s talking.
