I hope this isn't AP we got so many threads on this ongoing case but I didn't see a thread on this specific aspect

Anyway the officer Derek Chauvin  who killed George Floyd had already had 18 formal complaints about his behaviour on duty. At least 2 or those cases were closed with reprimand orally and by letter over agressive tones and derogatory language

So the police department of Minneapolis was well aware that he was problematic if more than once he had to be repremanded and 18 times he had formal complaints against him yet he was never fired.

Fvck, that’s a lot. Anyone know how long he had been working as a cop?

I mentioned this in passing, but not in a separate thread - Chauvin was not the only one, apparently one of the cops who helped hold George down was also involved in some sh*t - one of them got sued for excessive force and ended up settling, don't remember which one tho

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

18 years as well the article says

I guess that averages a complaint per year then

18 complaints did nothing to him, it took a murder that made the whole country blow up to put him behind bars is the perfect example of why ALL COPS ARE BASTARDS

In the article it said the cop beat up a guy who was walking with his pregnant girlfriend - idk how true that is, since this is cnn and it doesn't really mention that, nor that they were involved in other violent encounters, but I'm too tired to look for the link so idk :vegas:

If he can have 18 complaints and he killed a guy it's not hard to believe he could of beaten up a guy as well

Tho it probably wasn't random and out of the blue. Even the biggest jerks typically wouldn't throw a punch to someone random on the street just because they felt like it

Whatever caused it tho, I can believe it.

The freaky thing is, the worst cop I ever dealt with that almost broke my car door kinds looks like him :deadbanana:

It’s crazy that cops can even keep working after that many complaints. Anywhere else you’d be fired.

Most places you get 3 warnings and then they fire your azz but I guess if your a cop u need to have get 18 passes and a nation protesting before they fire you.

Just a reminder that County Attorney, now Senator Amy Klobuchar knew about this and did nothing. She declined to bring cases against multiple police officers and instead pushed them to a grand jury.
