I guess Trump won again. It's sad how political this situation is.

Doesn't he own a stake in the company that produces this drug? It feels like it was 30 years ago but I swear that came out when he started pushing it

Tbh I'm not sure anymore. It's a 3 months saga already.   I think he or a close friend has a very small stake.

Recently Trump said he took the drug for a period of time and the media crucified him based on this study that now was retracted.

How did he “win”? This still doesn’t prove any benefits. It simply means they’re going back to trial. In the end they can still find it to be harmful OR beneficial. Neither of which we currently know about.

He won because the media promoted this study and used it to trash him. At least for the moment, he won.

Take the politics out of this.

Initial studies showed very promising results when it’s used with azithromicin and zinc. Countries that used this combo as treatment protocol have the lowest morbidity rate.

Also, this medicine has been available for over 50 (or was it 80?) years, the list of side effects prior to COVID-19 was minor with no mention of any heart conditions. Many people use it on the daily. All these side effects that the research company (a shady one with only 4 employees on LinkedIn) and their findings are completely ridiculous.

I urge you to check out Peak Prosperity on YouTube. Frequent videos stating facts and pointing out the BS, without any conspiracy theories. It’s strictly medical facts.

Talk about out of context, only the studies Lancet and New England Journal of Medicine which  used Data Firm Surgisphere were retracted, not the others!

Results from two new studies, including the first randomized controlled trial, are providing further evidence that the antimalaria drug hydroxychloroquine may not help COVID-19 patients.

The authors of both papers conclude that the results do not support the continued use hydroxychloroquine in these patients.

In the first study, investigators in China randomized patients treated at 16 government-designated COVID-19 treatment centers.........................

"Data from our trial do not provide evidence to support the use of hydroxychloroquine in this population, particularly considering the increased adverse events," the authors wrote. But they noted that further research is needed on the use of the drug at an earlier stage of the disease, preferably within 48 hours of symptom onset.

In the second study, this one observational, investigators in France looked at outcomes among 181 hospitalized patients who had severe pneumonia caused by COVID-19 and needed oxygen.

"We found that hydroxychloroquine treatment at 600 mg/day added to standard care was not associated with a reduction of admissions to the intensive care unit or death 21 days after hospital admission compared with standard care alone," the authors wrote. "Additionally the rate of survival without acute respiratory distress syndrome did not increase."

The safety analysis showed that 8 of the 84 patients treated with hydroxychloroquine within the first 48 hours experienced electrocardiogram modifications that required discontinuation of the drug. Seven of these patients experienced QT-interval prolongation, which can cause an abnormal heart rhythm and increase the risk of sudden cardiac arrest.

@TOSK

There is nothing out of context about the studies being retracted.

Is NYT a better source for you?

WHO stopped their trials based on these fake studies and they reopened trials after the retraction, which shows how important those studies were considered.

You can post whatever studies you want, but if World Health Organization chooses to ignore them, it probably says a lot about them.

Also no one said here that the drug works.

Sometimes, it doesnt hurt to read the articles posted. It's like the third thread in the last 24 hours where you attack me and "respond" to things I didnt say.

You said Trump wins again ignoring other studies that says Trump was wrong and lost. Trump said it works along with drinking/injecting disinfectants.

WHO rejected the study cause the data they used seems to be faulty NOT because it worked or didn't work.

How about Oxford released recently study. Guess Trump lost again :)

Hydroxychloroquine Shows No Covid-19 Benefit in U.K. Study

A U.K. study of hydroxychloroquine for treatment of Covid-19 was halted after an early analysis found no benefit, the biggest blow yet for the therapy touted by U.S. President Donald Trump.
