Outrage about NYT's Op-ed.

Staffers at The New York Times expressed dismay Wednesday over the newspaper's decision to publish an op-ed written by Republican Sen. Tom Cotton that called for the U.S. military to be deployed in cities across the country to help restore order.

The op-ed was published in The Times opinion section, but staffers from both opinion and the newsroom — which operate separate from one another — publicly dissented.

A parade of Times journalists tweeted a screen shot showing the headline of Cotton's piece, "Send In the Troops," with the accompanying words: "Running this puts Black @NYTimes staff in danger."

New York Times Magazine staff writers Jenna Wortham and Taffy Brodesser-Akner and the paper's senior editor Kwame Opam were among the journalists who did that. National political reporter Astead W. Herndon tweeted his support for his "colleagues, and particularly the black ones."

I may not agree with the article but NYT is not here to serve the libs. The job of media is to highlight both sides point of view and then let people decide for themselves. But if yall wanna live in a echo chamber..

Wasn’t he the guy who wrote a letter to Iran towards the end of Obama’s last term basically telling them to ignore anything Obama said or did because he’d be gone soon? Why is he still around :smh:

One of the most prominent and influential papers in the country just published an op-ed calling for the government to crush a popular, anti-racist uprising by turning the military on their own people. It's full-on fascist propaganda.

You need serious help.

“Both-sides” arguments will literally be the death of us. Both sides is arguing about whether taxes should go to public education or fixing highways, not debating whether someone should get SHOT in the street for peacefully protesting, an action protected by the Constitution in case they forgot.
Also funny he didn’t put out a hot take like this when his fellow armed rednecks were rioting in the streets so that they could skip quarantine and get haircuts. How funny.
Giving dangerous “opinions” like this a platform is what lead us to this mess with Trump in the first place and it needs to stop.

They can contest the validity of the argument in that op-ed and the NYTimes still has the right to publish this op-ed, free press is this constitutionally protected last time I checked.

Maybe we should have let Nazis live in 1940s and let them say their side of it...

...

No platform for fascism, the article should be taken down.

A "point of view" that literally elicits violence against (mostly black) civilians is not ethical. Period.
