I can't believe what I've just read. Some of these comments are disgusting. It seems some people care more about a merch store than supporting the black community. I have no words.

I don't think that actions like this will help at all! People who are racist will keep being racists! I don't think that the artists are relevant to racist ppl!

She's not doing it for racists and she can't stop them from being racists. That's on them. She's doing it because she wholeheartedly believes in the message of the movement. Seriously what even is this statement?

Gaga keeps the store open: Ugh why is she not closing her store to express solidarity? Does she not stand with the black community? Every other artist is doing that. She's so tone deaf

Gaga shuts her store for a day: Ugh why is she doing this? This will change nothing! People will keep being racists!

These types of actions are quite inconsequential and are a bit too much like lip service. I would rather have BLM merch up with profits supporting the movement. Simply shutting up shop for the day achieves precisely nothing.

People we really don't need to be divided in times like this

You might not know about the history of African Americans in the US and that is fine (I'd urge to do a little research, it's important). But please don't belittle actions that artists are doing to help bring attention to the issue, and get it delt with now.

Yes you might think that closing an online shop for one day isn't important or gonna help, but that's where you're wrong, any little action to help bring more attention to the subject is welcome. We are at a crucial time in history, we need equality, isn't that what we all dream of? Let's stay united.

Time will come when we will argue about closing online shops and how important it is, but for now let's just be caring towards people who have been dying because of white culture (and that's not just relevant to the US, sadly).

I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time.

Yes it does. When an artist as huge as Lady Gaga closes her online shop, even if it's for a day, it gets people talking and sends a clear and stern message that she stands with the movement and is able to see bigger picture and think beyond herself, especially when her album was released just 3 days back.

Yes she could always do more but trust me, there's literally no need for her own fans belittling whatever she's doing to further the cause and spread the message.

Even If it was for a week, she is doing this for a great cause! As someone in this thread said before, she wants people to donate money for BLM. I cant even imagine some people here are worried about album sales right now. What matters is our life, health and learning how to be a better people.

how is it lip service... gaga can't just get BLM merch up in a day. you can buy BLM merch from anywhere or donate + participate in the blackout? those things aren't really mutually exclusive. the point of the blackout is to send a message to the system that led to all of this.

besides the blm movement needs more than just donations at this point.. there was a time for that. right now the entire country needs to stand united and say enough is enough.

This site truly has some of her worst fans tbh who like to either nitpick, belittle, discredit, bash or disown every little thing she does, be it her personal or professional choices. It's getting tiring and it's sad yet absolutely frustrating that people still can't see that literal LIVES are on the line. A whole community is hurting and getting trampled on since ages, their rights and their existence are threatened. Wake the f*ck up!

i think it has to do with this demographic of fans compared to say the hive base... :reductive:

the fans belittling blm will never have to deal with the injustice, racism, prejudice, generational trauma, and systematic oppression that comes with being black.
