NFRatwell 23,290
If people wanted these preserved and in museum they should’ve done it years ago when the statues were a big topic. Now that they’re destroyed it’s tim to start putting more statues of civil rights leaders and important POC in those spots.

Look, I'm vocal about taking down the statues but outright destroying them and forgetting they ever existed could be dangerous. Tho, I understand the impulse the protesters/rioters had. Do you seriously think Holocaust museums are preserving statues of Hitler or Goebbels? Like.....it's not about PC. It's about removing any veneration for people who belong in hell. Until then, destroy them all. 32 minutes ago, Yuuri said: History is writen by the victors, much like the first civil war the racists had to restart. ALSO on a more uplifting news Others states, like Maryland, recently unveiled new statues of black civil rights icons, such as Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass in government buildings, earlier this year. 26 minutes ago, Concertaholic said: They are not historical! They were literally created to spread propaganda and fear. When was the last time you saw a statue of a Nazi in a Holocaust museum? 25 minutes ago, Lionel Hutz said: We are not forgetting they existed. History isn't ever attached to material items. The Civil War will be a FACT whether it has evidence currently in existence or not. You cannot compare statues with the Holocaust. I'm sure you won't find any statues of Hitler or Stalin. And PC has nothing to do with this. 8 minutes ago, Spanish Eyes said: Do you seriously think Holocaust museums are preserving statues of Hitler or Goebbels? Like.....it's not about PC. HEARTSTOP 3,154
You do what you have to do...but remember that the egyptian pyramids (and pretty much every old monument) are also big celebrations of slavery. These things belong in a museum, so people don't forget the wrongs of humanity and don't repeat the same mistakes. There are tons of Roman and Asian imperial statues out there that remind us of the sovereignity of those before us. And one day, our generations will be long in the past too. History books are easy to rewrite (*cough*bible*cough*) but monuments aren't. They are the material that's used to fill History books with. Either way, hopefully this will ultimately be a positive progress for our current society. IDGAF
