There's no even full info out there yet, you don't know what's going to happen. They said that possibilities to listen to music from black artists will be there. But they are not sure yet.

Shut up, this problem is occuring EVERYWHERE. Are you living under a rock? "Only in America" :smh:

They might do that, but you don't know yet.

So? how many times has Spotify decided to shut itself down over protests that happened in China India Russia Pakistan Afghanistan Israel etc?

If « you » are a music lover you buy most of the music.

If not, « you » are a music streamer.

When you see how much you need to stream a song before is like you bought you’ll understand the difference.

You cannot tell people whether they're lovers of music or not based on how you think people should consume music.

:triggered: Don't have to be that rude though.

the user was being pretentious and rude and snobbish and constantly challenging the idea that music is a coping mechanism for me. sorry, but that isn't the kind of thing you get to question.

Insensivity asside, every song in there is gonna drop in streams, not just Chromatica's songs, this logic doesn't make sense

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Tbh I feel like this violates user terms of service like??? We paying for that one day of spotify premium? A hoe wants to stream.

And this is why I still listen to my music on iTunes. :vegas: JK but it's really good that they're doing this.

This is obviously for a good cause that is 100% more important than the release of Chromatica, but I feel awful for Gaga, there just always has to be something for her to deal with. It especially sucks because she is winning so hard right now :toofunny:

Seriously though, how is shutting down these platforms for a day going to help the cause?

I'm pretty sure Gaga agrees on this 100%. I don't think she minds a day of no streams when she's always been an activist and has always used her voice for this.

Yeah but they should have just released that information. If they’re going to make a stand then it should be concise and they should be upfront about what they’re plans are, whether that’s donating, limited service, promoting Black artists, etc. Especially if this is happening, “they are not sure yet” isn’t good enough for me, and just comes off as performative since they’re such a massive corporation.

A music lover would never rely on streaming lmao that's quite basic. A music lover OWNS music, not services.

Not everyone is as well-off as you, sir.

It shows solidarity. It’s disrupting the peace. The status quo cannot afford to be upheld. If this finally wakes up some people, then this is a fairly low-cost way of spreading awareness.

“Showing solidarity” is an empty promise. It’s done to not actually do anything while saying they’re doing something. Spotify doesn’t want to lose subscribers so being quiet for a day is the way to say they’re supporting the cause while also minimize the amount of users lost.

They’re clearly upsetting dozens of you in this thread. I’m sure they’re risking a lot by doing this. They’re also losing money from ad revenue by shutting down. So i don’t see your point.
