The thing I most like about the album version is the cadence from verse to breakdown. The muted beat in the verses make the song so much gayer and more dramatic, it's what makes it a perfect song. The demo version has the "Electric Devotion" lyric going for it, but other than that its too monotonous.

I thought that at first, but the official gives me chills. And the effects in the album version are just

It was the worst part of the demo sis :triggered:

The worst part of the demo is still better than the new version. :triggered:

Just A Holy Fool

I did not listen to the demo, and I love the version on Chromatica. This is why I don't listen to leaks (or try not to anyway)

I must be the only who prefers the album version :flop:

I listened to the album version first. I listened to the demo right afterwards. I think the demo is definitely better. I strongly dislike how EDM the final version sounds. About half the song's running time has no beat or a muted one, then leads to about two brief drops, which I dislike. I also dislike the treble synths on the final mix, which sound discordant with the rest of the song, whereas I love the trebles in the demo. The demo as a whole sounds more '90s, which I like. I prefer, a steady, consistent beat with no buildups.

That is the very thing about the final version that I dislike. To me, cadence has no place in dance music; dance music should maintain consistency throughout the entire composition. Listen to "Deeper and Deeper". It maintains it's energy throughout the entire song. The final version of Free Woman sounds like an EDM house song from 2015. It reminds me of Freddy Verano's "Moments" whereas the demo sounds like Cathy Dennis's "Touch Me All Night Long".

More artful and better produced. Both "Touch Me" and the demo of "Free Woman". It's not the 2010's anymore. We need to move away from EDM.

Deeper and Deeper may not have muted beats at any time, but it definitely builds up in a way the Free Woman demo just didn't (maybe because it is... a demo). There are elements to the production which are different in each part of the song that keeps it interesting. FW demo just didn't have any of that, its just the same repeated beat that gets old after the first minute and a half. Also, I don't think Gaga set out to do anything similar to the 90s House of D&D, FW is just a pop song with elements of dance at the end of the day.

I hadn't heard the demo and was concerned when I heard people say she butchered it, but when I did hear it after the album I really just didn't get the hype. It sounds more like just an idea for a finished song than what she actually intended it to be I guess.

I agree the album production just feels so bland, but her vocals are better. If they used the demo instrumental with the album acapella + kept the original bridge and outro from the demo it would be perfect

I agree with this

Vocals in the verses sound much better in the final version

But the Kygoesque dance break and the lack of bridge kinda ruins it, not to mention the instrumental is too loud when Gaga sings I'm a free womaaaan, I'm a free womaaaeaeaen that it doesn't let you appreciate it as much as in the demo

I actually think they both work well despite their different sounds sonically but I don’t like the dance break in the album version, makes it sound like a generic remix

While I think the demo is really good, the only reason why a lot of people here don’t like the new version of FW is because they have the demo to compare it to.

If you only got the final version, and never listened to the demo, you’d realize that the song isn’t as bad as some of y’all make it out to be.

That’s why we shouldn’t listen to the leaks. It’s our pinishment for doing that.

I love the album version but will always miss that "be be be free free free free forever baby" part:bradley:

Even though the demo is longer, it sounds unfinished. I didn't feel anything. The final song gets me so high. :bradley:

Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin.
