I mean I mostly agree with you in everything, but sorry, the word “cops” specifically refers to the humans in those positions. It just doesn’t stand true bc yes there technically are good cops, they’re just in an evil system. Idk why people don’t say something related to the system alone, anything else is literally confusing the conversation for no reason.

40% of cops are domestic abusers.

I understand wanting to keep the focus on the system and I think that is the correct approach, but do not be so disillusioned as to think that most cops are good people... They're not.

You are speaking about cops as if their occupation is some immutable trait. Cops chose to be cops. Cops chose to enforce a racist system. Cops perform racism everyday they put on that badge, by choice.

White people are part of an evil system in which they are the oppressor and we should, therefore, not immediately blame them at the individual level. They did not choose to be white. However, cops are part of an evil system that they voluntarily joined.

This is horrifying and disgusting. Watching this sorta **** makes my stomach churn.

I do want to know though, unrelated to this video...If there’s protestors on all sides of you while you’re driving, what are you supposed to do? Stop and wait until they move? Do you get out of the car, lock it, and leave it there until the crowd dissipates? Do you honk the horn and drive as slowly as humanly possible while yelling that you’re going to be driving forward so that people have time to get out of the way and you don’t hurt anyone?

You get out of the car and do this

You're supposed to stop. That's what a blockade is for.

Stop and then...wait? For however long they decide to block off the roads? What if you can’t get home though?

You don't have to all come for @Economy like this.

How I see it, I think he means this:

I agree completely that comments such as "All lives matter!" as an answer to "Black lives matter" are the worst and don't add anything to the conversation and are very often used exactly to deviate the attention and pretend like that there isn't a problem. The same thing happens when people react to what's happening now with "But there are good cops too".

BUT, that is not the same as reacting "this is simply not true, there are good cops too" when someone is saying "ACAB". They're not the same, but just like "all lives matter" doesn't add anything to the conversation, neither does "acab".

U would have a point there if I brought it up out of the blue and randomly and as a result distracting from the situation

But the other user is the one that made that sarcastic comment first. A false one on top of that. He should not have done that

And since I believe stuff like that unnecessarily adds more to the rift between cops and the population I called it out

It was his fault for making a smurky comment like that in the first place

That phrase is always used to justify the existence of cops in their current status and the maintenance of the system that made white supremacism so prevalent in that community in the first place. Also, where are those good cops everyone's talking about?

you are wrong, that sentence is used by people who don't want to generalize, and try to differentiate between the evil ones and good ones. putting all cops in "one pot" is as wrong as putting all black people in "one pot"

just because you don't hear much about good cops doesn't mean they are not there. they are definitely there working in the background trying to make a good change

Acts like this murder are just as much the fault of individual cops as it is the system

The system is broken in terms of accountability and protection

But a cop does not have to choose to profile like many other cops do and they have choices in most cases how to behave. U can't just blame this murder on the system. This cop CHOSE as an individual to be wrekless.

The fact that law enforcement has problems does not automatically mean that someone choosing to be a cop is therefore choosing to be a bad person

How many people work for big Corporations like Nikkie or Walmart or whatever. How much is wrong with their Corporate system where there's so many human rights abuses and exploration overseas? Does that make every employee at Walmart and Nikkie therefore bad as well because there's issues with the company they represent?

By your line of reasoning that cops are all guilty to some degree because of choosing to be cops In a broken system, then the vast majority of humans have guilt as well for who they work for

So I think u are going too deep by making that insinuation about cops on an individual level. So I really think the focus needs to be on the system not individually (unless as individuals they also commited a bad act as a cop then that's different)

Even though it's often in vain, you think it's always a bad thing in se for someone to become a cop even if they have good intentions? Wouldn't it be a 'good thing' if someone becomes a cop, because of really wanting to do what the job is actually supposed to be, to serve and protect, and to try to change the system?
Of course, "one individual" doesn't hold that much power, but if they're trying to change the system?

It is a good thing in itself, with good intentions, yeah sure, but those intentions are presented with a LOT of obstacles and  they never overcome them while remaining the same. Cops are trained to be the way they are. I have absolutely no sympathy for them.

A system so prevalent and so based on hatred either corrupts its people or embraces their original nature. If three neutral cops are neutral to the actions of one white supremacist cop, then you have four white supremacists cops.

I’m not talking about neutral cops. Good cops are the one who feel for the protestors, who would never treat black people like George was, ones who keep peace, who do nice things for citizens in their community like buy them Nintendo Switches for christmas, those who stop crimes, being justice to thieves, cancel mass shooters, etc.

Are they a small amount? We don’t know unless we physically poll them. All means all, most means most, and good doesn’t mean perfect-which is inhuman. Just because there are some good cops, doesn’t mean that invalidates a shred of your justified anger or protesting.

I don’t know blatantly untrue statements helps solve this issue. We have to operate in reality.  If leadership changes, the rest will follow, or they can kiss their jobs goodbye.

I'm sorry I didn't answer you I must've missed the notification. But still, this argument doesn't justify the behaviour of cops as a group and cops as individuals. It's a very men-based "boys club" kind of institution, and although one can choose to be a part of it for good reasons, there's so much one can do the maintain those reasons after years and years of social pressure leading up to white supremacism and bro culture. These "good" cops build their social circle based on other cops that are the scum of the earth, thus also making them the scum of the earth after some time. It's the same as capitalism, you are forced to enter into a job you don't like just to survive. It's true, it's difficult to get out of it. Here's the difference though: you chose to become a cop, you don't chose to become part of a capitalist society. But don't let that deceive you and be the reason why you defend the cops; you don't defend the cops because they won't defend you. The cops who are "good"--like, really good, would not even be a part of an institution such as this. After centuries and centuries of the same things happening again and again, you would think that a person who wants to be a cop would get the memo about the true nature of the job. And believe me, the majority of them got it. That's the reason why they're doing it. The other ones entered believing they can change things and instead they ended changing themselves to fit it. The other one are just stupid and naïve.

Its not as simple as saying a cop choses to be part of this system. Many people choose their jobs and realize how corrupt and racist it is after dedicating their whole life in it and spending years inside of the institution.

The reason why its a men based "boys club" institution is because the system allows this and shuts down anyone inside that opposes it. This is why cops in other countries are way better and good, because you are allowed to be good and speak against other cops that break the law.

Another thing about choice, you do realize that almost everyone buys electronics and shirts from literal slave labor? and the more you buy it the more slavery happens. I cant condemn an individual for participating on a system thats larger than them

Oh, yes, generalizing the people who have made a voluntary choice regarding an occupation is just as bad as generalizing people for their skin color, an immutable trait.

You do not aim to create change by signing up to be cop. You aim to create change through reform or revolution.

1. It's not true cops in other countries are "way better" and "good". The police institution is a global one, and as such it has ramifications all across the world.

2. You said that "Many people choose their jobs and realize how corrupt and racist it is after spending their whole life on it and its too late to leave and destroy your life." While this may be true, cops are exposed to the nature of the job since day 1. Do you think they don't know the intentions of the ones who surround them since early on? If you don't, then you are misinformed. Like I said, they're trained. They are part of police academies and have to graduate before entering the forces. That's plenty of time to know what kind of people will surround them. Still, they chose to go on. There are no good cops.

I agree, thank you.

People working for all those multiple clothing brands, are therefore all guilty of childwork in asian countries.

People working for electronic stores are all guilty for bad working conditions in china.

People selling mobile phones are all guilty for tragedies related to Tin mining.

the list goes on and on.

If you work for the police you are not necessarily guilty. Guilty are the ones doing bad deeds (like the cop in the video) AND if anything also police chiefs who protect and don't punish their bad cops are guilty too. No one else.

The system itself gets rid of good cops, and transform them into a shell of their former selves. I said what I said, I believe cops have several opportunities to realize the true nature of what is waiting for them, but nevertheless insist on doing it.
