I think the point they are trying to make is don't destract from the current cause which I get But I don't think it's necessarily helpful to throw more fire in a tense situation between law enforcement vs population by falsely insinuating that all cops are bad. At least make it clear that u are talking about the law enforcement as an institution as a whole and not every single cop as an individual. Also, where are those good cops everyone's talking about? I mean I mostly agree with you in everything, but sorry, the word “cops” specifically refers to the humans in those positions. It just doesn’t stand true bc yes there technically are good cops, they’re just in an evil system. Idk why people don’t say something related to the system alone, anything else is literally confusing the conversation for no reason.
Chic 20,830
This is horrifying and disgusting. Watching this sorta **** makes my stomach churn. I do want to know though, unrelated to this video...If there’s protestors on all sides of you while you’re driving, what are you supposed to do? Stop and wait until they move? Do you get out of the car, lock it, and leave it there until the crowd dissipates? Do you honk the horn and drive as slowly as humanly possible while yelling that you’re going to be driving forward so that people have time to get out of the way and you don’t hurt anyone? Figuratively and literally. Our one and only problem should be about fixing and changing our police force and our government. I quite frankly think that all these conversations about "Oh, the protestors could've done things this way," or "Oh, stop calling all cops bad, that isn't right," etc, are people just diverting the attention away from the problem. The problem isn't the rhetoric "All cops are bad," the problem is that cops are killing Black people and POC. The problem is that white privilege, and those who are privleged in general (regardless of their skin tone), are not taking necessary measurements to fight off racism. We need to protest, we need to vote, we need to donate, we need to sign petitions, we need to spread the word on social media, we need to change people's way of thinking. We cannot divert the situation away from what the problem is. All true but I don't think adding more fuel to tensions is necessary helpful either Any good cops as individuals that are more sympathetic to this cause are not gonna take well comments that imply that all of them are bad including themselves And frankly u say that that's what society is, and in my opinion that's part of the reason we can't fix problems. People seeing things black and white all the time and always one side or the other is exactly the kind of reason things are always tense and nothing can ever be resolved reasonably. It's just sides fighting all the time Even a simple comment had to turn into a debate because it cannot be taken for what it is. It has to be glued to a side Again, alienating all the cops in general I don't think is gonna help the situation at all it's just gonna fuel more fire At the very least make it clear ur talking about the institution as a whole of law enforcement and not every police member as individuals. gagaxsebert 5,804
I saw this video on twitter from another angle. I didn’t know what to expect and saw the car ram the people, I felt truly disgusted. How I see it, I think he means this: I agree completely that comments such as "All lives matter!" as an answer to "Black lives matter" are the worst and don't add anything to the conversation and are very often used exactly to deviate the attention and pretend like that there isn't a problem. The same thing happens when people react to what's happening now with "But there are good cops too". BUT, that is not the same as reacting "this is simply not true, there are good cops too" when someone is saying "ACAB". They're not the same, but just like "all lives matter" doesn't add anything to the conversation, neither does "acab".

Im an Anarchist and I hate the police state, but I dont hate cops and alot of them are good." I'm sorry I didn't answer you I must've missed the notification. But still, this argument doesn't justify the behaviour of cops as a group and cops as individuals. It's a very men-based "boys club" kind of institution, and although one can choose to be a part of it for good reasons, there's so much one can do the maintain those reasons after years and years of social pressure leading up to white supremacism and bro culture. These "good" cops build their social circle based on other cops that are the scum of the earth, thus also making them the scum of the earth after some time. It's the same as capitalism, you are forced to enter into a job you don't like just to survive. It's true, it's difficult to get out of it. Here's the difference though: you chose to become a cop, you don't chose to become part of a capitalist society. But don't let that deceive you and be the reason why you defend the cops; you don't defend the cops because they won't defend you. The cops who are "good"--like, really good, would not even be a part of an institution such as this. After centuries and centuries of the same things happening again and again, you would think that a person who wants to be a cop would get the memo about the true nature of the job. And believe me, the majority of them got it. That's the reason why they're doing it. The other ones entered believing they can change things and instead they ended changing themselves to fit it. The other one are just stupid and naïve. Former First Lady of the United States. Now card-carrying member of the Communist Party of China (CPC). That sarcastic comment I replied to sounded very direct at individuals and stuff like that is not going to be helpful. It will just add further rifts I agree that society, in general, is very polarizing, and that it can be difficult to have normal, civil conversations with people. That said, when it comes to civil rights and civil liberties, there is only one right side. In my opinion, when it comes to treating minorities with discrimination and disrespect, then everything else goes out the window. There is a side when it comes to subject matters like this, and everyone who is either cheering on the police or being complacent with their actions is on the wrong side. Any good cops would understand why people are saying things like, "Cops are bad," or "Cops are evil," or "**** the police," because any good cop would understand that the institution they serve is unjust. If I were a cop, I would understand that and I wouldn't be offended by their words. Because at the end of the day, the potentially hurtful emotions I feel coming from people saying stuff like that pales deeply in comparison to the reality that many Black Americans have to face every. single. day.
