How many POC has Coronavirus killed in the U.S this year, and how many have died from police brutality this year? How many are projected to die given the clear lack of social distancing? People are not always standing six feet apart, as is apparent in hundreds of protest photos. Anything but an N95 mask isn’t going to stop transmission, so the virus will spread quickly, especially among POC, seeing as they’re the most affected by the virus.

If a thousand people gathering for a concert is unsafe, a thousand people gathering for a protest is unsafe. The necessity of these two things is very different, but it doesn’t change the reality of the virus. How can you support these protests when the virus is out there?

I have two conclusions to come to. Either you say the virus isn’t as dangerous as it’s made out to be and won’t kill many people that are going to the protests, or you say that you don’t actually care about the mass amount of lives that will be lost from the virus spreading in these protests, and the existence of your political views depend on piggybacking whatever the progressive flavor of the day is

I don’t remember being told the virus only likes infecting quarantine protests and not police brutality protests. I remember being told that going out in mass groups = being packed into mass graves, and that going out NO MATTER WHAT is selfish and you’re responsible for the deaths of others. If that’s so, then condoning the protests is condoning the deaths of the thousands of people that will result from it.

i cannot believe people are still defending the police at THIS point. this is abhorrent.

but i am so proud of all the protesters and rioters who are standing up for whats right. it's never really ideal or a first choice to use violence and destruction of infrastructure for the sake of political and social change, but at this point i think it is the only thing we have left to break down the system and hopefully build it back up in a way that is much more of a legitimate democracy - because america is absolutely not a democracy unless you are white.
