Camp. Dance beats with female high diva like vocals. Lyrics of being free and empowered. It just sounds... Gay.

Well, I don’t know a lot about gay culture anyway🤷🏼‍♂️

I get the LGBT community wants to feel a certain ownership to a style of music but it’s getting kinda repetitive and defeats the idea that music is something to be enjoyed by any group that chooses to enjoy it. Anyway this 90s “gay sound” is also associated with gay African-American culture (since they created house music), so if your going to label it you should do it right. :billie:

So great that straight guys are so accepting now

How is this relevant to what I said?

Same, I'm a bi female and it gets annoying, gay this and gay that, it gets old after awhile, we need to quit labeling things and trying to take things away from others. I am proud to be in this community tho! It's almost like JK Rowling trying to label her characters for no reason lol.

I don’t think she is trying to make music that sounds ‘gay’

Just listened to it like 10 times now

The 90s house beats, the high diva vocals, the feel good lyrics, the feeling of just feeling fierce while playing it.

I feel like I'm listening to a Kylie Minogue or Robyn album in the best possible way. It's just fun. Like a cotton candy shaped dildo on Pride fun.

It's dance music to just feel good too. Every time I listen to it I feel like I'm at the gayest club in Chromatica and it just... Does it get gayer than this!?

This is the gayest she ever sounded. When Babylon comes I just feel like I'm walking the runaway on Rupauls. When she yells out I'm a free womaaaaaan I'm like you go gurl take me back to Scheisse. When her and Elton John get together it's these two queens outsinging each other.

She doesn't have to mention equality, sex, politics or art in the lyrics like her previous attempts. It's just gay the way it is. It just is.

And that's how you do it.

Glad someone else can feel some Robyn in the record like I can.

I love Robyn! She's my favorite pop singer. Queen of electro pop.

I think OP meant that the house influences she took are historically originated within the LGBT community

Again, it doesn't sound anything but good music. Music can't and shouldn't sound "gay" or "straight" or whatever. Music is universal and is supposed to be enjoyed by everyone regardless of gender and sexual identities and this constant labeling and compartmentalization needs to stop, like @Monsterabriel and others in this thread have said.
