Girrr 1,086
I don’t know about some of y’all, but my twitter timeline is slowly becoming a battle over activists supporting BLM and the Minnesota riots vs. gays/Little Monsters. Activists are saying that we (and Gaga) are tone deaf for tweeting about the album during this situation. How do you guys feel about it? Are you conflicted? Do you not care? personally, I don’t see supporting Chromatica as mutually exclusive from being an ally. However, I never want to speak over anyone else who probably has more skin in the game and has firsthand experience with this discrimination. Thoughts? ferretti 5,808
She tweeted about it, which was the right thing to do. She can't postpone her album because this happened nor should she. We can't all stop and cry. Life is hard and sad enough right now. We need things like Chromatica to LIFT us all during these hard times. Ignore those people. disco stick tester, inquire within
Guest
I don't care in a way. Can't stop your personal life and enjoyment because **** is happening. **** happens everywhere in the world.
Eros92 2,513
Brah people are dying all over from COVID and people are all depressed the world is in a STATE. If people wanna tweet about something that makes their lives better then people need to LET THEM.
Guest
This is what I call bedroom activism. Its fake outrage by using racism and sexism not for actual change, but for their personal entertainment of cancelling celebrities.
Girrr 1,086
I sort of had a similar perspective to some of you. Online activism can be very shallow, and I’d bet it doesn’t always translate into tangible achievements. I wanted to make the thread, though, to see if anyone else was seeing any criticism thrown at fans or Gaga herself currently

geusst1235 5,398
If tweeting about Chromatica and engaging with other fans in the excitement of the album being released makes someone's day better, then that factor alone unequivocally justifies it. No one else logically can, nor should even try to vilify someone else for participating in something that brings them joy; it's not even up for debate imo. Gaga is bringing some semblance of levity to millions of people, and that should not be disregarded in any capacity. If anyone does attempt to criticize her for doing this, then they are just adding unneeded negativity to an already stressed out, tense country instead of actually using their energy in more productive ways. I Bow Down To Pray 193
Gaga already tweeted out about it, what more can she do? She's not going to postpone the album again. Angel Down is literally about police brutality allegedly, so people can stop dragging Gaga.
Poker 3,713
We shouldn't play that game. Let them express themselves and let it be. I know that what happened in the USA is horrible, but at the same time, horrible things happen in every country every day. Children die. People are murdered. Nobody would be able to talk about anything if we stopped for every horrible thing that happened. Kindness rules all.
Fanta 5,019
They can shut the **** up! She already delayed the album once and raise almost $130 million to help get the world back on its feet, and she tweeted in solidarity and support in the middle of her album worldwide release (she waited until her account had more buzz to get more attention. These are just nasty and trashy stans who once again want to rain on her parade. Stan Twitter is the most toxic thing ever. All these kids with access to social media using it to bully others and there is literally no limit to how far they’ll go, including using real-life crisis to ‘drag’ a celebrity/pop star. Disgusting. webeenknew 81
personally, i'm very conflicted about it. i understand that the release date was so close at this point and it couldn't have possibly been postponed, but i'm really torn on the fact that she really went heavy on the promo despite what's going on in the world right now. yes, i know she tweeted about the george floyd murder. yes, i know that this promo was planned. i've been so excited about chromatica and counting the days leading up to tonight, trust me. i've listened to it quite a few times and got excited with some other people. i'm not saying that she can't be happy about the album because she indeed worked very hard on it and i'm proud of her for that. i just feel that the fact all this chaos is happening in the world right now should have more attention brought to it, and gaga has always been a person that takes charge of that. i'm hoping she speaks out more about it in the coming days, because i know that it took her a while to come to the decision to postpone chromatica because of the pandemic. I’m right there with ya. A lot of the flack I’ve seen her getting isn’t just from stan twitter either. Some of my own peers are criticizing each other for tweeting about the album rather than the situation at hand. Of course it seems like Gaga never wins. She’d be selfish to put out the album during the pandemic’s height, and she’s being labeled so even now. Damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t. I just worry that this negative attention will blow up further.
webeenknew 81
Just now, Girrr said: I just worry that this negative attention will blow up further. oh it's definitely gonna blow up further. i'm watching it closely on twitter and some of the big gaga stan accounts are rushing to defend her, which i understand, but this is gonna grow undeniably. Yeah I saw LGMonsterFacts defending her just a few moments ago. And the Hive and BTS stans are using this to further gaslight Gaga for whatever toxic stan drama they’re fueling. Such a freaking shame this is happening.
