ANVEEROY 61,207
Released in the same year, Britney Spears's Blackout and Kylie Minogue's X have notable similarities. Both albums redefined the pop-stars, with killer production and visuals. Same producers worked on both albums, but resembles are uncanny. ANVEEROY 61,207
Interesting Read: That's Britney addressing some of the stuff that's written about her, of course. So, one wonders, what does X tell us about the past few years in Kylieworld? Well, basically nothing. Listening to X you wouldn't know that Kylie has looked death in the face or seen one of the most significant relationships of her life implode. Instead, you would think she has just been out dancing quite a bit. Pop of this variety need never dwell on muso notions of cred or authenticity but the emotional distance on X - Kylie's 10th studio album, hence the name - does make you wonder whether there will ever be anything more to Kylie's lyrics than meaningless trilling about 'get me on the floor', 'DJs spinning up my favourite song', 'Boy, you got it, got it, you got me feeling crazy about my body/ I cannot, cannot stop it, you got me moving, got me rocking'. While Britney's fondness for larging it in clubs has been endlessly documented - making some of the more club-based tracks on Blackout seem like a true reflection of her life - Kylie's is virtually non-existent, although she did recently appear DJing at east London cred-magnet Boombox. Boombox specialises in incredible, cutting-edge electronic music. So are Justice, Rex the Dog, Riot in Belgium or Chromeo twiddling knobs on this album? Of course not. X could have been the album to take overground a burgeoning underground club sound; instead, it's largely an approximation of club life fronted by a woman who doesn't go clubbing. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2007/nov/11/shopping.popandrock1#maincontent Stream Kylie-Janet Discographies! Lucas 26,837
Blackout! I think X is one of Kylie's weakest album She sounds lifeless on this record, like she has no emotions, but she went through a lot during this period, so I totally understand

But her vocals sound so lifeless/robotic on this record imo, while usually you can hear passion in her voice on all of her songs. It's probably a result of what she had to go through at the time, so I understand, but I can't stop thinking about her fight vs cancer whenever I listen to this album and it gives me a weird feeling... And the production/melodies aren't as strong as her other albums (again, in my opinion only). I absolutely love the singles and 1/2 album tracks but the other tracks, not so much
CautiousLurker 19,303
I really like Blackout and think it's by far Britney's best album, but X is easily the best one of the two - but of course all the Britney stans are gonna back Blackout even tho most probably haven't heard X and even if they listened to it now, it probably wouldn't have the same impact as it would if they experienced it in the same way they did Blackout so the results aren't surprising me in the slightest X is better tho It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

Gimme More instrumental & intro were (and still) iconic. Here's an Xemple 3- Nu-di-ty is been said to have Britney's BGV (idk if Brit ever recorded a version) 4- Also a note, Britney recorded a Kylie "body Language" outtake You Blow Hot & Cold for GH : MP in 2004 but didn't include it 5- when's X megarate?
