I think it's only adopted a new meaning because it's what people use to criticize songs they don't like, if I'm being totally honest. The meaning of a "filler" song doesn't change just because people decide to use it incorrectly. Instead of taking a less popular song, let's use a more popular Gaga song: Bad Romance. If she just wrote that song just because the label wanted one more song on TFM and she was just like, "Okay, whatever. Let me just write this and record it and be done with it," then that's a filler. It doesn't matter that it's a banger song. It doesn't matter that it was one of her biggest hits. She just wrote it to fill up space on the album. In this scenario, it's a filler. The idea of calling a "bad" song a filler just doesn't make sense to me. People just use it to describe songs they don't like. I mean, it's no coincidence that Hey Girl, Bad Kids, The Queen, FOHL, Black Jesus, Grigio Girls, Fashion!, Donatella, Teeth, etc. are all considered "fillers." They're songs that a large chunk of the fanbase dislikes. People just want to use the term "filler" for them because it's easy to write it off as "yeah, yeah, she just put it on the album to fill up space." VasilisVas 5,202
Probably interludes I’ve always hated when artists put interludes on their albums. Tove Lo is known for this and it’s so aggravating. I get they’re used to set a certain tone or change of theme on that album, but I hate it. I’ve always loved that Gaga never had interludes in her albums, but I guess it is what it is. Guest
No. People here call any song they don't like a filler.
boyerased 2,886
Nope. Song you might not like yes. I believe in fillers honestly. Although I think nowadays not may pop stars do fillers like they used to let’s say when pop stars where dominating. Tier-A pop stars are concerned with their crafts now. Most try to deliver a body of work unlike before where most of the albums are just vehicles for singles and a world tour. Usually I find fillers in writing camp-driven albums. Like (this is my personal opinion) when Rih’s Talk That Talk came to be. It was supposed to be a Loud re-release but they decided to just do a full album and I felt like some of the songs were just thrown to complete an album. Like Birthday Cake and Cockiness. I love those two tracks but they felt uninspired. Gaga records a lot of songs for the albums that you can say that technically it can’t be a filler when it’s really chosen to be a part of the album. Then there’s the personal touch you can feel that she is actually sincere when crafting every song.
Hades 27,980
The only filler is that Japanese SL remix. Talking about wasting a track's space.

Just because they're shorter (I'm assuming) and they don't have vocals (again, I'm assuming), doesn't mean that they're "fillers." If they weren't important, she wouldn't have put them on the album. Periodt. I don't believe her at all lmao, I'm sure she added them because they're gonna increase her units A LOT with the Spotify plays (Scene 98 tease) However, I expect to love the interludes! God Control 2,181
So far, we got two of them. I hope the album will have tracks that I’ll blast on full volume and jam to them with my AirPods on like Dance In The Dark, Heavy Metal Lover, Venus, Mary Jane Holland, Fashion! Perfect Illusion and Marry The Night or just lie down and appreciate the art and magic in them like ARTPOP, So Happy I Could Die, Bloody Mary and Always Remember Us This Way. The way I define filler is that a song that is added to fill space in the album, that doesn’t have potential for a single (dance, power ballad or ballad) nor does it resonate well as a fan favorite, either so it remains just another track on the album that no one cares about that feels more like something that was added to fill the space than the make any impact, regardless of the artist’s intention. That might be a side effect, but that's not why she put them on there. Firstly, we don't even know if they're long or short interludes. We're just assuming they're shorter than the songs on the album. However, when you've got songs like Sour Candy that are [supposedly] 2:37, maybe having 2-3 minute long interludes isn't a stretch. She added them because they helped with the story telling of the album. Sure, Gaga wants her album to have commercial success, but not at the expense of her artistic integrity. AVeryGagaHolyDick 26,314
Gaga's best written song is a filler, so I'm not worried. I don't mind one or two fillers as long as the songs are so good that they had to be released
GypsyVida 5,944
The only contenders I think would be Replay, Enigma, and Love Me Right. Replay because its a very basic and overused song title and unless it's a reworked version of Reloaded like people are speculating, I can't see it having any sort of significant lyrical or productional value to add to the album. Enigma because it's obviously only on the album so that she doesn't have to change the name of Enigma the Vegas residency to 'Chromatica'. And Love Me Right because its a Target bonus track and those are always kinda off the beat of the album. Look at Katy's "Act My Age" and "Dance With the Devil". They don't fit in with the tone of Witness at all (although Act My Age is quite a bop). currently streaming Zombieboy
