SL is a good song, maybe the lyrics aren't too deep, but I just can't help dancing to it. I also love the choreography.

The arc of Stupid Love from its initial leak to its current-day perception within the fanbase is fascinating. The day prior to the leak, 90% of this forum was filled with fans screaming for another "popGA" album with protests planned if LG6 was anywhere close to the sounds of Joanne/ASIB. However, once corona hit, the song began losing steam on streaming, performances were pulled, and it hit #5 vs. #3, it started to take serious punches like "the GP said NO!" and"she should have released a ballad!"

That fans are so dismissive of what SL affirmed+accomplished is so short-sighted and sad. How would GGD have reacted if told during the run of 'Million Reasons' / 'The Cure' that Gaga would release a dance-pop song as the LG6 lead in 2020 and:

1. It would receive positive reviews and acclaim from nearly all critics and general public (via official reviews, fan/vocalist reactions, etc.)?

2. It would be released simultaneously with a MV containing a theme, costumes, and choreography that would reach 10M views in 24 hrs?

3. It would debut at #5 on the BB Hot 100, with top 10 peaks in the UK, CAN, and AUS among others?

4. It would be identified as a "future radio hit" upon initial tracking, with the 3rd-highest score at that time?

5. It would reach significant playlisting across all major radio stations in the U.S. and UK, ultimately peaking in the Top 10 for (H)AC and just outside for Pop?

Comparisons to Perfect Illusion or Never Really Over are just illogical, unfair, and pathetic. SL was meant to be a reintroduction of Gaga into the pop music scene with an initial rollout that would have had a more dominant 2nd single+Chromatica released within 6 weeks. Had that happened, SL's reception and airplay would've likely allowed for 2 singles (Rain On Me and Stupid Love) in the Top 20 at the end of March, with album promo/sales keeping SL in the #20-#40 range for ~12-14 weeks total.

Remind me again: after Perfect Illusion dropped off the Chart, was the fanbase and GP preparing for a #1 smash hit in A-YO or Million Reasons, with automatic A-list playlisting in place, etc.? Remind me again: are we expecting ROM to peak in the 80s as Small Talk did?

Stupid Love did its job; it will re-enter the Hot 100 upon Chromatica's release for a respectable 10-12 week run. More importantly, it maintained the hype for new Gaga music which enabled today's anxiety as we await a song that could become her 5th #1 single+highest debut since EOG in 2011.

Perspective, people. And, appreciation for the 'streaming era' equivalent of a Just Dance type setup.

I'm still bopping to it, I just took a 1 week break of the song and then it popped out on the radio and fell in love again.

You heard it on the radio? Recently?

It’s a burst of happiness and a quirky, super cute, Bowie inspired, great dance bop that could’ve been much better with a more complex lyrical structure + a chorus melody to sing along to. It’s a 6/10. But it’s fun.

All we need is love
