i agree its best not to, my old professors would agree with you, but i cant help it because im a practicing therapist and im just inclined to diagnose everybody, including myself

During the ARTPOP era, she often came off completey incoherent, drugged out, and like she was in a manic phase. Some of her comments about Chromatica aren't entirely clear imo, but I think that's more due to her not always being the most articulate. Also, she seems more new age/healing crystals/zen, even when she rambles and some of her answers aren't entirely clear, nowadays...which seems a lot healthier than how she came across during ARTPOP imo even if she's talking about dark subjects.

Just out of curiosity which interviews do you consider her displaying an overtly manic affect during ARTPOP? I remember once, during Graham Norton interview (whilst donning the notorious black plumage à la Louis Vuitton) that she described her artistic/mental process as "very schizophrenic". Thinking back I actually believe she toted the term :"schizophrenic" numerous times during the era (which I was slightly offended by, being diagnosed Schizophrenic and Schizotypal myself), but I don't remember her ever mentioning or appearing manic relative to her collective anima/mores.

Im always interested in the discussion around mental health since its been the biggest factor in my life aside from my own mortal flesh XD

To be honest, I can't recall which exact interviews (and I usually have a weird ability to remember random pop culture facts). But what I remember is she seemed almost robotic and monotone in some interviews and then very excitable, almost over the top, in others and sometimes the interviews were like back to back so the mood changes were....noticeable. I just remember listening to one radio interview and thinking she sounded either incredibly coked out or as if she was having a manic episode. I feel icky doing an armchair diagnosis, but I've seen firsthand manic episodes and that's what it sounded like.

I stopped following her that closely during ARTPOP because it wasn't necessarily my thing and I also felt -weird- listening to someone who clearly had serious issues that weren't being taken care of.

I believe that sounds exactly like a state of rapid cycling BUT that is also very congruent to behavior of self medicating with controlled substances (specifically euphoria caused by ingestion of prescription painkillers).

My own psychiatrists juggle me between Schizoaffective Bipolar type and Paranoid Schizophrenia because my psychosis mirrors that of extreme textbook mania.

I'm sorry if I seem invasive in general, I just grapple at chances to relate my conscious experience to specific individuals to make sense of the world that I so very struggle to coexist within-- even amongst my own friends and family. :c

I really hope she is ok, she is just such a sweetheart for giving us this incredible music during this time  I hope she’s making sure she’s ok as well too, and not letting the stress get to her.
