Expand It could easily be considered inappropriate, or disrespectful for a white woman to publicly intrude on the collective success of her black female peers. With *ALL* things considered Lana should’ve known better. At the very least she should know that it was distasteful.
Mavis Gary 364
Y’all. She’s not dragging the other girls. She’s using their success with the type of songs they’ve put out to make a point of the hypocrisy of it all. On the other hand, I’m not sure where this has come from, and I don’t really understand it because it’s not like she’s floundering as an artist, she is incredibly successful and receives massive praise, for the last three albums she’s put out particularly. What she’s mentioning is a nonissue for the majority of people and the kick of it all is that the people this is directed at won’t have their minds changed so she’s preaching to the already converted. Kind of a futile post tbh.

It all came off as slightly slut-shamey and lowkey racist. None of these women ever said a bad word about Lana, there's no need to drag them into this. She can't act surprised if other fanbases start to attack her now Expand There’s no lowkey-racism in her post, unless you think criticising (Which she’s not doing, btw)black people is racist. Expand Yeah, I don't feel like she was attacking women and I don't believe she singled out POC on purpose. However, it kind of speaks to how clueless/oblivious she can be that she didn't recognize that calling out most POC artists by name is not a good look for a wealthy white women even if her intentions were not bad. I don't blame some people for finding it problematic/reading more into it, but I also know twitter is often geared to making the most bad faith interpretations as possible & going overboard when it comes to "canceling" people. Like what’s good girl and that part wouldn’t nearly have irked me if it wasn’t for her mentioning Kehlani. Kehlani has NEVER had a No.1 album or single and isn’t NEARLY as successful as the rest of her peers inc Lana. And her last album is full of breakup songs. Like mentioning Kehlani literally felt like she was randomly shading WOC than trying to make her point which was basically about her getting dragged for her early lyrical content . But Lana this ain’t it. she basically said these women got number 1 songs by singing about fvcking and cheating and having no clothes???? Her privilege SHONE thruuu very very disappointing Expand The fact they’re Woc has literally no correlation to the reason she’s mentioning them. alsemanche 92,673
The way y'all missed her point entirely and somehow turned her into a racist woman hater artist who's dragging other female artists is so ironic. gagaxsebert 5,804
I don’t know Lana or listen to her music. But based off that first paragraph she seems like a real b*tch. Was it necessary calling them women out. Used to be HighRoad
auburn 1,072
I love it when gay men think they can tell women what they should/shouldn't do. Leave Lana alone. If you misunderstood what she's saying, learn how to read.

Expand That is YOUR opinion. She's complaining about being criticized for writing about delicate topics while claiming that all these other (mostly black) women are able to do so freely, which could not be further from the truth. Historically, WOC performers were portrayed as oversexualized and promiscuous and have a hard time finding success and recognition in general. There was absolutely no need to bring those women into this conversation, since they have absolutely nothing to do with what Lana is complaining about. GagaBowsToAriana 51
Considering one of her lyrics are her hit me and it felt like a kiss’ she can go choke. No one she named has ever said a negative thing about her. She’s just mad because she can’t get a number by releasing the same song over and over. We get it, Lana, you’re edgy and you whisper sing and use the same instrumental every time. Take notes from those women and get different themes other than abuse. Sorry but not a stan and never will be.

Expand That’s not the point. You have a group of black women simultaneously dominating the charts. For a lot of people this is important, and exciting. Lana knows that. Everyone knows that. Even though her post isn’t blatantly racist, people will question her intent behind singling out the success of her black peers. Common sense tells us that not only is it immature to “Kanye” someone’s achievements, but it’s also strange for someone to exclude and compare a group of systemically oppressed individuals when questioning their own like-ability as a person who some would call “privileged”. and the fact that I have to explain that is NOT OKAY!!!!
