Okay, she probably could've worded it differently to not come across as so... elitist? I get her frustration and I've been defending her against people that accuse her of glamorizing abuse for YEARS. I don't really doubt she was trying to make good points, some of which I agree with. As it stands it's rubbing a lot of people the wrong way, and rightfully so. There was no need to name drop any of those women.

it wasn't a call out

she's friends with ariana, complimented camila's work a lot of times, attended beyonce's halloween party

the focus was more on how in her debut days it wasn't like that

and mentioning them emphasizes her point

but only to the people who can see past "omg she's shading them"

Some people in this thread need to be banned. Such disgusting  and foul behavior.

She's not attacking these girls. She's simply asking for lyrical and artistic freedom without being told that she's ''glamourizing abuse'' or that her lyrics are ''unhealthy'' and stuff like that. She should be able to write whatever she wants, all of us experience trauma or abuse in different ways and all of us find different ways to cope or express our feelings about it. I completely understand her frustration.

She says be kind. She never said anything about selective kindness. I don’t have spare kindness for people like you who are blinded by their white privilege. Sorry not sorry. :fthis:

What kind of white privilege? I just mentioned, that they like those songs and lyrics and men could easily misunderstand these things.

Relax darling

I mean I never said she was shading them, but it can easily come across that way. All I said was she could've made the same post without naming any of them

It’s ironic that Lana get criticised for not conforming to the “empowered woman” persona by people who claim to fight against women having to conform. :billie:

Are we gonna pretend you didn’t mention ‘black women’ specifically? You’re embarrassing. I’m done conversing with an airhead biggum like you. Byeeeee :bye:

Does it matter? Damage is done

yeah

but that's because society makes us see women mentioning other women inherently as something evil

if a dude did that everyone would read it in a light manner

chasing success and chasing #1 is different. Music is made not just for #1 position on BB Hot 100. Few artist do act like they make music just to get that #1.

there's no one I am against of. Just that chasing #1 desperately doesn't look good on a singers image especially right now.

you’re making absolutely no sense

All music artists strive/are pressured to achieve a number 1. Please accept reality.
