I thought the concepts looked more dreamlike yeah it was very satanic there would be a live performance torture act, there would be blood, the creepy bird would turn his head.. you can read it here: https://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/85190950.html

I'm glad it didn't happen but I would be so interested to see how things would be if it did
JustJames 950
The red carpet performance was a brilliant idea and I wish her visual concept killing her former personas and coming out as Lady Seashell Bikini for the ARTPOP era was more consistent and tied into videos, performances, etc. It was a very simple way of expressing the heart of ARTPOP, and the duality of the adrenaline/crash that existed on songs like Applause and DWUW, and between songs like MANiCURE/G.U.Y. (addicted to love vs. addicted to control of love), Venus/Sexxx Dreams (pure devotion vs. adultery), MJH/Dope (duh), Gypsy/Swine (naive escapism vs. brutal inner reconciliation), and Fashion/Donatella (fashion for fashion vs. fashion to please). The performance and MV for Applause were still absolutely brilliant, though, even if they could have used a bit more energy and repetition behind how the looks from each era have meaning and that their destruction meant something to ARTPOP as an album. The planned performance has literally NOTHING to do with Applause or ARTPOP; art should have a concept and meaning that drives the artist, so I don't accept that as rationale for what I just read. Her earlier gimmicks, such as sacrificing herself onstage at the 2009 VMAs, were controversial and yet still artistic because there was a passionate statement behind them. This would have been torn apart as what would have been: shock for shock value. Extremely glad that after the initial artRAVE announcement party, both Applause and ARTPOP managed to escape a complete spiral in such a direction. Also, despite knowing that I am going to get attacked for no reason since I am just observing/attempting to discuss obvious symbols, etc., but it should be concerning that a performance with torture art, using artwork with titles like "Saturn devouring son" as inspiration, and incorporating what the sketches show as Baphomet, the half-man/half-beast representation of satan in multiple religions was being planned. When there are 100 other sources for inspiration, and 99 of them are satantic in nature, it is worth asking questions at the very least.

Well the original original concept was Gaga and Robin Thicke performing Sex Dreams (the original 1st single) wasn't it?
