It had initially sought to reschedule the event to later in the year. In a statement to Vogue, the Met said fashion's big night has officially been called off "due to the global health crisis." The Met Gala typically happens on the first Monday in May. It attracts the biggest names in entertainment and fashion and has one of the biggest, most heavily attended red carpets of the year.
