Lighter 15,376
I’ve been curious about this since Taylor’s label debacle. Let’s say if Taylor used Love Story which is owned by Big Machine on her Lover World Tour and the tour gets a Live Album/CD Treatment, she will need to get a license right. Now can a license be paid as a fixed fee where they’ll ONLY receive the license fee and nothing else? Or as the Love Story (Lover World Tour Version) keeps generating revenues from sales and streams, they’ll still have a cut of those revenues too? Brecht 7
As far as I'm aware Big Machine only owns the masters, not the songs itself. So if she sings the songs without using any of the original recordings she doesn't need to pay a dime to them.

But she gotta pay them upfront for license right
