Oh I totally get it. Just to answer WHY is that way. Why people are calling Joanne that way? Because the whole internet and beyond called the album that way. Dead/Passed Away - Tomato/Tomato

She wanted to made it clear she was her dead/passed away aunt. Every article that talked about Joanne had this information in their text.

The same happened with her promo for a star is born. “I can have a 100 ppl in the room...”

For Joanne It was humor, dark humor ok, but still humor...

Euphemism:saladga: it's called Euphemism

Yeah, that's not cool, it's not respectful at all, especially when it becomes a trend (this fanbase is full of sheeps who clone each other). It's not that deep though, Gaga herself said "Sorry Joanne, there's another bitch in town YEAAAAAH" which has the exact same energy

You guys: c’mon she talked about this so many times in the interview and she was pretty clear about the fact that she passed away before she can even met her. What were you waiting if not some dark internet humor?

Saying "everyone is doing it", "everyone was going to do it anyway", "it's expected", etc. is not a valid justification of a bad action. I know you don't mean harm, but no one who says "dead aunt album" is doing it in a respectful way. I have talked about Joanne a lot with people and I always say "it is a tribute to her aunt that passed away before she could ever meet her. She feels a kinship with her". While, yes, that is a little long to type out, you understand what I'm saying. The intent behind it is to make a joke, not be respect in any way, shape or form. Just because it's a joke does not mean it gets a pass from being criticized and rightful called insensitive. And please don't give me "people need to learn to take a joke" and "stop criticizing people's sense of humor". When someone makes a joke that is objectively offensive and edgy just for the sake of doing so, it deserves to be rightfully criticized. People who claim to be Gaga fans, but then disrespect her like this makes me really disappointed. I don't know your life, but I do know people who feel loss would most likely not act so cavalier when discussing topics like this.

Anyway you want to spin it, calling it her "dead aunt album" is both disrespectful and unfunny.

stop judging others sense of humor: you sound so pure and pristine... it makes me laugh.

theres nothing funny about making dead aunt jokes. IMO

I know, like you said, Gaga's the one who did it- she's the one that released an album about her late aunt.  But it wasn't a comedy album:huh: it wasn't made to be joked about.  she did it in the most respectful way she could while honoring both her family and her artistic style.  I know its not some gospel album & DIC is on that album.. I understand how you could think that the album is disrespectful and it was gimmicky of Gaga to create an album about her late aunt but regardless- it wasn't made to be laughed at & joked about.

As "the dead aunt"?

That is so disrespectful and I'm pretty sure none of you guys would say this outside in the "real world".

Snotty little kids whose tune would change in an instant if Gaga was around out of respect

It was originally just called auntRAVE but it was the people with poor taste who changed it

I find really easy to be righteous when things are took out of context.
I never did that joke to harm her feeling. Still I’m giggling when I think about that.
My humor make my laugh thinking she made a pop record about her passed away aunt that she never met.
I suffer loss of friends and relatives, and I don’t joke about them so easily but I Think I can be lighthearted when talking a pop star album title.
Beside arguing about if dark humor should be allowed or not, I’m not defending nobody being disrespectful, and I mostly answer the WHY people call it that way since this was the main question of the thread. Saying that it’s only because people are disrespectful is a reductive and incomplete answer.

It’s also super disrespectful when Lina Morgana is brought up but you think her fans have respect?
