How Confident Are You That ROM Will Go #1?

If something as mediocre and basic as Stupid Love can debut at #5, then this has to beat that. It's hard to get cocky when it comes to Gaga because well... Gaga, but I think this is gonna debut #1 and it's gonna be a smash. Blinding Lights, Don't Start Now and others are starting to die down. People want an uplifting dance song for the summer. No one else is really releasing. The theme of trauma/pain is very relevant right now. And it's Ariana. This is gonna be the song of the summer.

I think a Top 5 is on lock. If SL can do it, ROM can surely do it too. There's no question about that.

That said, #1...? I'm cautiously optimistic. I think it certainly has the potential, but let's just hope that the GP is here for it. And to be honest, I think that while the song's quality itself certainly will impact how well it'll do on the charts, I don't think it's the only factor, or even the main factor as to whether or not it'll hit that #1 spot. 

The song could (and probably will) be a banger, but I just don't think people are as interested about Gaga as much as they used to be. I think she's respected as an artist, especially with projects like Joanne and ASIB raising up her profile & talents for many people, but she's not as popular as other artists today. 

GP perception is incredibly important here. Which is why I think they were smart to have Ari be a part of the song. Ari not only can hold her own with Gaga, vocally/musically speaking, but she's incredibly popular, especially with a lot of the GP. 

We'll just have to wait and see I guess...

I think that the snippet we heard will be the final chorus. There's a lot of ad libs and "noisiness" on it for me to think that it's just a regular chorus. That said, I don't think that the regular choruses will be the "rain on me" w/ the deeper voice. People have said that's an earlier demo. That earlier leak also didn't have Ari on it, and honestly, I'd be very surprised if she wasn't on the chorus.

However, knowing that this industry can be super unpredictable, plus the existence of leaks, plus whatever might happen, I don't want to have any expectations. I'm pretty confident honestly. If we got a solo single that had leaked in full a month before to the top 5 (with very little promo on LG's end), I can't imagine that Rain On Me (a dance pop single with one of the biggest and most popular pop artists in the world who has a manager known for pushing songs) would peak at anywhere below top 3.

I think some people forget that Telephone peaked at #3 despite having the star power of Gaga and Beyonce while they were both at one of their highest peaks in their careers. I want to see ROM do well and I think it will but also I think y'all are setting yourself up for meltdowns when you say #1 is on lock.
