Jeffree star is getting dragged for his new "cremated" eyeshadow palette

I just don’t get why people are so mad over this :laughga: there’s a lot of things to not like Jeffree Star for but this ain’t it (can’t we get pass faux outrage for once). Is the cremated name bad timing considering world events? Yes, definitely bad timing. but you can’t just keep pushing back the launch for makeup that expires (which he already did) or cancel a product when you have 100s of thousands of units in perfect condition sitting in your warehouses. (Renaming/rebranding isn’t really an option when you already finished all the production and the product is glued into the unit, it’s not as easy as putting a sticker over it).

As someone pointed out, Haus Labs even has been using terms/puns related to death/dying this entire time but i haven’t seen a single person go up in arms about it. Not saying that people’s concerns aren’t valid , it’s just a bit hypocritical seeing people mad over this but couldn’t care if anyone else, even Gaga, did it.
I just think there’s so much to be upset and angry about right now, but I don’t think this one of those things. It’s not like Corona was the reason behind him making this palette (it’s been in production since mid-late last year).

TLDR; Bad timing and poor taste? Yeah, but it’s not something to go grab your pitchforks over.

Look, usually I don't care about a lot of this stuff, but releasing a palette that's themed around literal death and cremation during a pandemic is incredibly tone deaf.

Yeah. Thanks. This x1000. I get the whole “everyone needs to lighten up” narrative - but even if we weren’t in a global health crisis this is just a weird name for a palette .....

This is just poor timing. The theme and name would be fine if tens of thousands of people weren't dying daily due to a pandemic. If you think about Sam Smith's new album (previously titled "To Die For"), they not only delayed it, but will be renaming it due to the fact that they don't want to reference death during a pandemic.

I HIGHLY dislike him as a person but this is not it. There are tons of other reasons to dislike him...this is not one of them in my opinion.

I really enjoy watching his videos and even though I don't actually buy his products, I do find this to be slightly inappropriate in this time. If it was at the end of the pandemic, where most of the countries are recovered, then fine but literally thousands of people are still dying and I'm not sure someone really wants to dig into the whole 'death' theme right now..
